Power Blocks!!
OK, I have been holding out on buying a set of Power Blocks for my home gym needs. I just couldn't believe that the design would be comfortable.
This week I had to travel for work and the hotel "fitness center" had two sets of Power Blocks so I had a chance to try them out.
They were great! I am sold and will be buying a set.
Give them a shot if you get the chance.

I've had a pair for years . . . really like them. There are a few things you can't really do that you can do with regular DBs (like pullovers with a single DB) but the downside is minute. The upside is huge . . . comfortable, variety, fast change in weight, takes up very little space, etc.
I highly recommend them, although they are not necessarily cheap. I think they are worth every penny, though.

PowerBlocks !!
I've had a set of the Sport 9.0s with the 90 pound package for a few months and they're fantastic. Pound for pound they're a great value IMO as I use DBs nearly every workout.
From way back when I still have the spin-lock handles that you stack plates on but the PowerBlocks are far superior.
Another upside for me was supporting a company that makes their stuff not only in the USA but just down the road about 70 miles from where I live in Minneapolis.

I bought a set about a month ago and love them!
I would recommend looking on craigslist to find a used set. New ones are very pricey.

Absolutely spot on. I bought a set and broke the bank balance. Everything here in Aus is about a third dearer. Bought them after reading a fw reviews, that and I was constantly buying more plate for my DB's.
Pricey but the versatility is awesome. The best part is I can take them away camping and still get in a workout. Not that the missus is impressed.
You're right with the DB pullovers and also found overhead extensions a bit odd. You can grip the outer bars but I have found that it's easier to just use both. One in each hand. Works a treat.

Can anyone compare them to the Bowflex dumbells?
My wife bought me the 50 lb Bowflex model but I returned them.
Functionally they seemed good but 50 lb is not enough weight.
Also, I was a little worried about dropping them. Not that I make a habit of slamming weights around but sometimes if I'm using 90's on DB Bench I just gotta let them drop a little.
How do you think the PB's would hold up to that?

I also have the Sport 9.0 that goes to 90#, and I dropped one yesterday because one of the pins got hooked on my sweatshirt for a moment...only dropped them about 12", and I have a 3/4" rubber floor in my garage gym...but no problems. I'm looking to upgrade to the 130# per db. Couldn't be happier.
I did buy them at a 2nd Wind that was going out of business, so got them for $399.

Bowflex
construction was never impressive to me.
I doubt they will survive years of hard use.
No doubt they won't survive being dropped.

I'm planning on buying the Sport 9.0 Stage II 90s ...I know those should always be enough for me but should I spend the extra 300 and just get the 130s so that there are no limitations for me or my man? I posted a blog about it if you all have a minute to stop over... But looking at them all I think they are well worth the money.
