It is very fun. The agency flys you out to where their located if they have photographers they'll take pics of you (if their a good one) and also find work for you.
A good place to start is http://www.modelmayhem.com/
anyone can join and that way you can get genral feedback from photographers, make up artists, stylists, other models, etc. Just be careful and make sure whatever offers you get are legit and professional.
