Ok, how many of you have a friend or family member who has signed on as an "independent consultant/representative/executive" or whatever clever term the company has designed for a sales person?
I was recently contacted by a "friend of a friend" trying to sell me some stuff in a round-about-way. My husband recently had an emergency back surgery that never should have gone so far as to end up as an emergency ( much longer story and huge rant) but he was in a lot of pain before, and will be for some time now after the surgery as well. Anyhow, this woman writes me a long email, at first it starts out as though she's just offering support, then as it goes on she gives me the answer to all hubby's pain and suffering; This great new juice that she is selling. I has "done wonders" for her and her husband (both overweight by 150+ lbs) by helping relieve joint pain and aid them in sleeping through the night. It's called Mona Vie, and being kind, I just ask for the website. I am refered to their own "consultant" page which contains absolutely NO nutritional and supplemental information of this wonder juice. It does however, tout all kinds of great benefits. With no stats or proof to back up the claims I've quickly labeled it another overhyped scam juice.
Before this little episode, it was my Mother in Law (we've dubbed her "Milly") pushing "mangosteen" on everyone. It was supposed to cure all ills by taking just a little shot each day.

Yeah sure. But Milly would not hear it, this was the answer to everyting; allergies, arthritis, blood pressure, pain, flu, colds etc.
The problem: Each time one of these new juices or supplemental products comes out, it seem we have someone near us who buys into into hook line and sinker. The stuff is always expensive ($40+ per bottle) and is nothing more than fruit juice! (or, in the case of Mona Vie-Active, they add glucosamie and BCAA to juice) Yet they preach and preach. How do you deal with it?!?
Now don't get me wrong, Tupperware, Candle and Passion parties are near and dear to my heart! The are a good time with a variety of products which I can use! But this wonder juice business? GRRRRRRRRRRR How do I politely tell them they are peddling a gimmick? It ended up as a HUGE fight with Milly, so I'm a bit nervous with this new situation. I am currently just avoiding saying anything! LOL
