Deli Meats
I've been reading some of the nutrition threads and have came across alot of negative feedback with regards to deli meats. I normally buy oven roasted chicken and turkey just to add protein variety. Are deli meats really that bad???

not if you opt for the natural ones like boars head and other healthy choices. Most are frowned upon because of the preservatives they use........... also watch for Sodium if that troubles you......... although if you drink enough water it doesn't matter

deli meats suck. most of them are processed. most guys/gals who have been and are successful eating mostly whole/real foods like steak fish chicken turkey. stay aways from processed foods, high in sodium, sugars, artifical flavoring

I love deli meats but yes they are loaded with tons of toxic chemicals and don't have much protein.

What the hell are you eating then? Next time you're in the grocery store, head to the deli and ask to see the package of Boar's Head Oven-Roasted turkey. You'll be amazed how wrong you are.

There fine in moderation. Don't make them your primary protein source. But you wont die by eating a cold cut sandwhich for lunch.

This is their OverGold Turkey.
The Boar's Head site claims; no fillers, artificial flavors or colors, by-products or cereals.

I think deli meats are healthy. There only problem is that they are over-priced considering the amount of calories you get from them. I refuse to even buy chicken @ $5.50/lb because it's not enough calories for what I have to pay for it. Deli meat is even more expensive.

$2-5.50 a lb....uhhh wtf I can't find that stuff for less than 6.00 and thats going to cheap route at Walmart/Publix. What do you guys ask for to get it for that cheap of a price?
"I'd like some Deli chicken breast" or "1 pound of (insert name) please"?
Also, I've been buying whole chickens and cutting the breasts to use for sandwiches but not having that rotary tool is making sandwiches too lumpy... any advice?

I am interested in know how they are processed. I doubt when a package comes in a perfect ball that the chicken it came from was in that shape. HA! It is processed meat and they can put whatever they want in it including inject it with rib meat or water to make it have more volume.
I eat it anyway because its pre sliced and cooked.

Perdue individually packaged chicken at my local grocery store. Even the store brand stuff is not much cheaper, and of much lower quality (lots of grissle).

We're talking about actual deli cuts, not the **** in packages right? Because if you eat that stuff you should kill yourself. I've worked in a few delis, for the most part, aside from sodium content, its not that bad, at least in moderation (which goes true for everything though). Come to think of it, everywhere i've worked carried Boars Head.

Short term Goal: To consistently wake up early so I run every morning.
Mid term Goal: To be able to run 10 miles without slowing down, like I used to.
Long term Goal: To look good naked again.
Random news: Really wanting to start my bulk, but want to keep cutting because of an upcoming reunion.
