take a moment to think 3 years back to now
Lets all take a moment and think about ourselves three years back and think how some of us where skinny or fat and weak.. to now where even if you have not reached our ultimate goal how much you have grown mentally and physically.
I grew up border line anorexic and then i hit the gym and have been bulking since (fuk ya). First time i entered a gym on April/19/05 (i remember the exact day because i came very close to dying that very same day.. I didn't get back into the gym for a year after that day) I remember not being able to bench 95 lbs and now i can put overhead 220...
i think its nice to reminisce sometimes and even though I'm not super strong I'm years away from where i was

i was about 6'1, 220 with 20+ bf, ate junk food the whole time, used to binge a lot
when i started working out, i went to the other extreme, not eating enough, ended up at about 165 (about 15 months ago)
now im 208, feeling and looking better than ever, and making great strength gains
so in 3 years, ive lost 55lbs and gained 43lbs
definately not where i want to be strength wise, as im pretty new to strength training, but i cant complain about the improvements

I hadent begun to workout yet. I had just finished losing weight down from 240-200 by not eating and drinking coffee all day.
I started lifting 9 months afterwards a bit before I turned 20.

I was talking to someone about this yesterday.
I thought I was the strongest thing in the world.
I had delusions....I was weak as hell.
I also thought I was fit and muscular.
I still dont think I am that strong, and I have a long way to go. But I laugh at my mental image three years ago

I was 18...I think my bench was 225, I could squat around 335, and my deadlift was around 365. I weighed around 170.
It's funny, I'm 30 pounds heavier and my arms have only gone up .5" in size since. My triceps are waaaaaaaay stronger than before and they actually look a lot bigger now, so I don't care about what the tape measure says.

I was just starting college, weighed about 140lbs or so, couldnt bench my own weight, and had a gf who im glad im no longer with.
as of today I have an associates degree (working on bachelors) weigh about 175 at the same or *slightly* higher bodyfat than back then, and have gone through "relationships" with a few more girls but ive realized it far more important to concentrate on making myself the best i can be than worrying about others (well except for fam, and a handfull of close friends)

Ill try to find a picture of what I looked like before touching weights. One is probably floating around the net somewhere.

Three years ago I was pretty much the same as I was one and a bit years ago. About 6' 160lb, zero lifting experience and a general pussy.

I was always pretty strong compared to other people and used to win arm wrestles. lol sorry for the brag, but I never really "transformed" once I hit the gym, I just added a continous load of strength.

3 years ago I re injured my lumbar and it took a year just to be able to walk around like a normal person.
During injury trying to get a 70lb loaded bar off the ground was a ****ing chore with one hip totally tilted to one side.
Today I'll throw a 70lb loaded bar at your ass and crack your scull with it LOL just kidding with the violence.
People talk **** about others lifts without knowing what they had to go through to get there and the one's that know what I'm saying knows that 99.9% of people out there wouldn't have even bothered and just felt sorry for themselves.

Wow, almost exactly like me before I stop training. My bench press was around 250, squat was probably around that but IDK it's not like I went to parallel and had good form or anything.. and my deadlift was around that, a little lower because I didn't do them often.
Although between that time and now there has been a couple periods of about 18 months where I didn't lift weights at all. Now I'm back on track and stronger and way more knowledgeable about training then I was before.

started lifting summer of 06.
Benched like 95x2. didnt squat, didnt dead.
hit a 300x1 bench summer of 08. 405 dead and 375 squat.
then from that time until now I've basically rested my back and sucked.

I had just lost a lot of weight. I was pretty lanky, but skinnyfat. My max weight that I recall was 260-270, and I was down to about 198, which is the lowest weight I can recall being (by the age that I cared about what I weighed, I was well into the mid-200s).
In that picture, I was actually holding the first gym shorts I ever purchased, to go to the gym that I had just become a member of.
I didn't know much about training and I was also vegan (6+ years), which I'm not anymore. I had an awful haircut.
About 5 months ago:
I've gained weight since then, and changed my weight training priorities, but yea. That photo was roughly 235, and I weigh about 255 now.

3 years ago I went down to 128lbs,
I used to drink lots of Pepsi,
I used to play Runescape for up to 14 hours a day and...
I remember the science teacher saying she was concerned about my eating habits.
Now I know how to look after my body and I have direction in life.

sorry you had to go through with something like that. dunno what i'd do if that happened to me. but, thats whats life all about right? busting your ass and pushing on through to see the light at the end of the tunnel. great job with life so far man REPS
to add on to my statement in this thread i was 16 and was severely depressed. i was skinny-fat (5'5 130lbs) all i did was play video games all day and saw no future for me. i dropped out of school because i was so ****ed up i couldnt concentrate or focus. i had many issues back then but now most of them are straightened out. at the time my great aunt was dying and my uncle was very sick. that just made things worse for me. now 3 years later weighting at 198lbs and being 5'5 i go to the gym regularly and make weightlifting a priority over videogames. lifting to me is a passion and i'm sure you all understand that. if it wasnt for the gym and discovering bb.com with like minded people i wouldnt be who i am today.
anywho, i'm now studying for my G.E.D. and going on to college to become a personal trainer or strength & conditioning coach.
