So I am bulking right now. Went from 148 to 156 since the 1st. Not too much fat added. Just trying to get to 4000 calories a day, 200g of protein and 350g of carbohydrates. I want to get up to 175lb before I start to cut. Also diffidently getting stronger.
So does anyone know how many people have entered this contest? Is it smart to put up progress pics right now or wait till the contest ends.

Alot of restaurants have healthy menu options now to accomodate most diets. Applesbee's, Chile's, and others all offer things like "guiltless grill" items. It's always easy to do at a place like Outback. Just order a grilled chicken breast with vegetables and have the leave the butter off the veggies. Skip on the unlimited free bread, the bloomin' onion, and the bacon cheddar fries and you'll be set. And don't forget to order sauces on the side. You can also order alot of items without cheese and save alot of fat kcals. Be careful with salads though because alot of them are just as bad for you as the burger and fries you really want. Just try to order whole food items track your calories and you should be fine. Most of the chain restaurants do have nutrition information online. Hope this helps.

Lunch with clients, dinner with co-workers! Workout?? Hopefully the Firm will put me up in a hotel with "State-of-the-art" fitness center. Wish me luck!

You should check out the following link: http://www.youtube.com/user/scooby1961
That link will take you to Scooby's You Tube channel. He has lots of videos with great exercises without the need of the gym. Maybe you can get some ideas from him while you are on the road.

Not sure yet. We will be finding out very soon. We already have a 3 year old boy so another boy would be best Clothes wise. That's why I am trying so hard at this contest, i hope I win a little to pay for expenses of a new child, lol. I know the odds are against me but it's worth a try.

Question for MT Reps, when I seen J_C ( http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/j_...n=progresspics ) Pictures without his full face showing I reread the rules, and it doesn't specifically say that your face has to be visible? Does it need to?
|
Competitors,
First off, I just want to say good luck to everyone that has signed up this far! For many, it's going to be a long and tough few months, but I guarantee it'll all be worth it in the end, so stick to your transformations. To answer Holly854, YES your entire face needs to be visible in the B&A pictures you submit.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Saturday I plan to detox and step up the cardio. Heres my Saturday food plan:
Meal
1. Protein shake/8oz fatfree milk/Banana
Pre workout. 3 egg whites 1 whole egg
Post workout. protein shake/fruit
2. Protein bar
3. Turkey Sandwich
4. Steak/potato/salad
5. Cottage cheese/fruit
6. Turkey Sandwich
I start back to third shift Saturday night so that makes it hard to plan. Sunday will be a cardio only day.

If you plan to "detox" you should probobly include some anitioxidants in your meal plan...
dark green veggies, cranberries, coffee, prunes, blackberries, etc

I lost 10 pounds. I'm scared to look in the mirror yet, maybe in a month. Cardio is now 45 min instead of 30 min. How about you, hows it going?

Dang, lol. A lot of us have pregnant wives. When my wife gets bigger I will have her post a picture of her big belly, lol. Congrats to you by the way. I know how it is, I work full time, go to college part time, watch over my prego wife and energized 3 year old son. It's going to be rough.

hats off to the young families. I myself went to school full time, worked every weekend and had five kids. Now they are a little older but still love their chocolate cake ( I did not have one bite) Did take the wife to a nice Italian resturant tonight though. My cheet meal for the week. I have only lost about 4 pounds since the 1st. A little discouraging, my diet is very clean. I need to start to write out every thing so I can see where I am at. I know I am not drinking enough water. Hard to do some days at work. Can't really stop in the middle of a operation to go to the bathroom. I have been eating about the same way for the past several months, that might be why I am not dropping so fat. My aerobics are at 5am any where from 30-45 minutes. I am not doing HIIT, getting old and like my knees to keep working. No complex carbs after lunch.

diet help
Can someone help me with a diet plan? I am 198lbs @15%bodyfat. I am very carb sensitive. I work out 4-5x with weight training a week and do cardio daily. The expense of the food and quantity of times per day isn't a problem I can do anything right now. I would like to get down to about 6%bodyfat by the end of this transformation at about 175lbs or so depending on if I can stay full or if I flatten out to low. If anyone can help set up a plan please send it to davidmpenwell@yahoo.com. Also no alergies and am not afraid to eat just about anything besides stupid stuff that takes 18 different stores to find it at.

You can pull a bunch of stuff off the main site or what I found very useful is an e-book called Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle my Tom Venuto. it is an awsome resource.

Hey all I've got a quick question. I have an odd disorder called "food dependent exercise induced anaphalaxis". Basically, I can't eat or drink any type of protein closer than two hours to the beginning of my exercise because my stomach requires more blood than normal to digest my food (thus my heart and lungs do not get enough blood to function correctly while working out if my food is still digesting). Well... I started taking my creatine for this contest and the last two days I've had trouble breathing. Could it be the amino acids that make up the creatine that I'm taking during my workout? And does anyone know about this disorder where they can give me advice as to how to get around it? Often I end up working out hungry (which really sucks).

Never heard of such a disorder and I work in the health care. The shortness of breath (SOB for short) could be from the creatine, though I doubt it. It does not take a lot of blood supply to digest a clear liquid. They say that to burn off more fat you should exercise on an empty stomach. that way you are burning your stored fat for energy instead of the fat in your gut from eating. I would try either google search (like you havn't thought of that) WebMD or the CDC.gov. I do some searching myself and let you know if I find anything.

[QUOTE=sportygurl1116;274912891]Hey all I've got a quick question. I have an odd disorder called "food dependent exercise induced anaphalaxis".
Food-dependent exercise induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA) is a distinct form of food allergy induced by physical exercise. Symptoms are typically generalized urticaria and severe allergic reactions such as shock or hypotension. Whereas various food items are responsible for the development of FDEIA, wheat is reported to be the allergen with the highest frequency in Japan. Recently aspirin has been known to be an additional exacerbating factor. Skin tests and in vitro serum food-specific IgE assays are currently used, however their sensitivity and specificity are not always satisfactory. A challenge test consisting of ingestion of assumed food followed by intense physical exercise is the only reliable method to determine the causative food and to diagnose the disease. The challenge test is not always safe because in some cases the test induces an anaphylactic shock. So a reliable in vitro diagnostic method is necessary for the patients with FDEIA. We revealed that wheat omega-5 gliadin and high molecular weight glutenin subunit are major allergens in wheat-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (WDEIA). A simultaneous detection of specific IgE to epitope sequences of both omega-5 gliadin and high molecular weight glutenin is found to achieve higher sensitivity and specificity compared with the in vitro serum food-specific IgE assays currently used for diagnosis of WDEIA. On the other hand, immunoreactive gliadins appeared in the sera of patients during the provocation test with both wheat-exercise and wheat-aspirin challenges in parallel with allergic symptoms. These findings suggest that FDEIA is IgE-mediated hypersensitivity reaction to foods and both exercise and aspirin facilitate allergen absorption from the gastrointestinal tract.

Okay, so these questions were posted in the Hydroxycut thread, but thought they'd prove good reading here as well. Have they already been answered here?

Hi Leighann!
I'm a representative from Hydroxycut Max! and I'll be reviewing the forum periodically to answer any questions and to assist with any aspect of the Hydroxycut Max! Transformation Contest.
Congratulations on taking part in this contest and thank you for posting your question. I've noticed a few other girls asking similar questions about the newspaper requirementsc, so this one seemed like a good place to start.
When taking your Before pictures, any major-market or major-city newspaper will do just fine. So - YES - The Boston Globe is okay!
The most important element is that the date is clearly visible - so please remember to include a close-up shot of the paper?s front page when doing your Before pictures.
Thanks again and good luck with the Contest,

In answer to both of your recent questions...
1) The essay is to be written at the end of your transformation and is supposed to describe the impact your transformation has had on your life. You submit it upon completion of your transformation, when you submit your After photos.
2) You don't need to post your pics on this thread, but you're more than welcome to if you feel like it. Although you are not required to post your pictures on the forum, you're definitely encouraged to. It might help serve as a source of inspiration and motivation to the rest of the girls competing.
Best of luck everyone!

I would try either google search (like you havn't thought of that) WebMD or the CDC.gov. I do some searching myself and let you know if I find anything.

Yeah my mom is in the health field too and she had never heard of it. I had to travel to find a doc who could figure out what was wrong with me (which he figured it out) but it's still not completely under control. He told me to stay away from whey protein right before my workout because it takes a lot of effort to digest and all food 2 hours before. I'm just trying to figure out what's triggering it this time.

Its still on the fence between actual loss and a true recomp. While I have lost some, I have also gained some size and tonight a friend of mine at the gym said he thought I looked like id put on muscle and guessed my weight at 225 instead of 215.
I had a goal of dropping to about 200-205 but I guess im just gonna see where things go for a few weeks.

Sooo good, and then we're going to watch UFC on PPV!! A perfect date.
Congrats to everyone and stay motivated! Have a great weekend!

Maybe ask your Dr what you can do. There might be some sort of specialist that can help with your condition.....
