Ya I agree with you on that. Tuesday night I think I tweek my right shoulder at the gym and so last night I had to hold myself back and stay home just to make sure nothing was wrong with it. Instead I just took my dog for a long walk because I got bored at the house. But tonight it is back on!

Checking in with updated weight.
187.5 today...up 1.4lbs from last week
That sucks becuase I physically feel like I've lost, and think I look a little better too. Wasn't expecting to have gained...
I'm a little disappointed but maybe this is the week 2 thing they always talk about in biggest loser. Or maybe I just have a big poop up there somewhere. Or retained water? Who knows.
I started the week off not eating as well...about sunday I got that back in check and am doing fine with the diet but have been slacking on my workouts. That, and its 7 deg outside with a windchill making it -7. my main form of cardio is running which I won't do in that kinda cold.
Not gonna get all bent out of shape about 1.4lbs but yeah...need to be stricter with my diet and excercise this week and see if I can't get that back down.
How's everyone else?

At least you are feeling better physically. Sometimes you won't see it on the scale in numbers but as long as you feel it. Just keep with it!

No chance you had some muscle gain? It sucks to see the numbers go that way. I have a hard time weighin in myself, as I usually only do it at work, and I have so much stuff on its unreal. Steel Toes = ~2 pounds, Lab Coat = ~1 pound, so its kinda depressing for me, as my weight seems to flucuate as well.
My calories for the are most likely going to be way off. My lunch was probably roughly 1000 calories or so, western style 3 egg omelet, that had green peppers, onion, and ham inside, and 2 slices of cheese on top. The fried potatoes killed me, told myself not to eat those! Oh well, I guess this is my "off day".

I couldnt imagine only eating 1300 calories man. You arent even 18 yet and eating that few? You are still a growing boy. I nearly ate that for lunch, granted I didnt want to, but didnt want to be a burden on my coworkers as we are working off site today. Im eating around 2200 and still dropping. Might want to try to add a few more meals?

x10x10jr,
There are three key ingredients to any successful plan...
DIET, exercise and rest.
Diet is obviously the most important factor in the plan. You have to be very careful doing something so extreme as to only eat 1300 calories a day. A calorie deficit like this can cause a host of issues. The most important though being that your body will go into a starvation mode. Your metabolism will slow, your body will start to conserve energy any way it can, your muscles will become and energy burden and start to deteriorate. Soon, you will be maintaining at 1300 calories and have to drop below that to cut. Long story short, you will lose weight, but you will become "skinny/fat". Your body will only retain the muscle it needs to perform everyday functions. Losing weight is a multi-step program. I started out cutting on 3200 calories a day. I have slowly reduced that as I progressed through my changes. I am currently at about 2200 calories a day when not exercising. When I am going to hit it hard in the gym I can easily eat 2800 calories that day with no concerns. The human body adapts very well. You are putting it through a lot of stress telling it to cut weight. It will adapt to maintane at whatever calorie intake you have. This is why you have to do it in steps, and change your routine up from time to time. I'm not telling you that my way is the only way. I'm just cautioning you that your body will adapt to 1300 calories, and it will leave you with nowhere to go from there.

Its possible to be muscle gain. I think its a combination of that with water weight, or something. All I know is I had a decent week and feel good so I'm not getting to hung up about it.
Your omlet shouldn't have 1000 cals... I eat 3 eggs almost everyday for breakfast, with half a cup shredded cheese, and two thin slices of ham and that's in the ballpark of 600 cals according to fitday. I like to eat more in the mornings. Its 2pm now and I'm still full from breakfast haha.

I totally agree and disagree...
For me and a co worker, we cut weight by eating this few. He has lost nearly 70 lbs and me 50lbs..We have no lose skin at the moment and both feel great. I agree with your statment of the body adapting but to many ppl get hung up on starvation mode. I am able to build muscle and run miles w/o problem on this diet. I feel great both mentally and physically. I do refeed my body once in a while so it goes way above 4000 cals a day for a few days. I see alot of success this way. Not to mention studies proving better lifestyles, age, and other things when ppl consume low cals.
Im not saying anyone is wrong. What im saying is people through around terms like staravtion mode, and its not applicable.

Hey, if it works for you, then it works for you... lol I've never seen studies stating that low cals. equate to a better/longer life though. If you run across them again please let me know. I'm a sponge. I like to soak up as much as I can.

I agree, I wouldn't sweat it much bro. Weight is never linear. You may have gained weight this week, but next week drop twice as much. The body is a mysterious machine. As long as you stuck to your plan, then you did your part. Just give your body time to do it's thing.

People believe that everyone must have 2000+ cals. However with ppl doing things such as the warriors diet and such agree different. Its hard to change ppl but i love eating low cals. Im not hungary and can fucus real well.. Try it and see what happens
If your eating food right along your body will not do what some say and gain all back when you start eating. The key is to feed yourself all day. This way even if you up cals your body is fine and wont pack on weight. My experience is that i neveer go over 1300 except when i cheat then i do like 4000, or 5000 worth of crap and i LOSE WEIGHT. when people stop eating all together is when starvation mode occurs. As soon as these people start eating again they gain it all cause the body has not seen food forever....
Try it and let me know i will guraentt if you do it for a month you will love it,

Hmmmm... From the articles;
"People who try restricting calories can experience rapid weight loss, although it seems to plateau after six months as their bodies adjust, according to studies."
"Dieters who restricted calories for 12 months had lower muscle mass and a reduced capacity to perform exercise compared with those who lost similar amounts of weight from exercise alone, according to a study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology in February 2007."
"CR-induced weight loss (but not exercise-induced weight loss) was associated with reduced bone mineral density at the hip and spine (high risk areas for fracture), another study published in Archives of Internal Medicine in March 2007 found."
"Other possible risks or side effects associated with the spartan diet include increased cold sensitivity, menstrual irregularities, and infertility."
"Researchers at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found that excessive calorie restriction causes malnutrition and can lead to anemia, muscle wasting, weakness, dizziness, lethargy, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, gallstones, irritability and depression. The study was published in the March 2007 issue of the Journal of American Medical Association."

I keep thinking about the day I get to bulk. Probably around next October sometime. To be entirely honest, it scares the piss out of me. I'm gonna be terrified when the time comes, but then again I can't wait. lol

1200 cals a day? Damn, I would starve. I know I need to cut back but I don't know if I could ever go that low. I don't want to lose muscle, just fat.

When I first started dieting, around December 1(a month ago), I set my range at 1800-2000 Calories a day. I'm 204 lbs. currently, back then I was 211 and I've been lifting intensely for almost a solid year. When I first dropped down to 2000 Calories, still lifting heavy and starting cardio at 1 mile a day, I felt like I was going to pass out. I didn't take into account how much I burn during my workouts, so I was eating way less than I should have. I have since, brought my diet up to 2500 Calories a day and feel good. I eat 5-6 times a day and it's a high protein diet. I am slowly but surely losing weight.
If I only ate 1300 Cals a day, I couldn't function. Keep in mind, I'm not a teenager and my body isn't trying to reach maturity, either! Low Calorie Diets scare me, because your body will automatically become Catabolic and that's 100% the exact opposite of what I'm trying to achieve! I know, if I did 1300 a day, 75% of the weight I lost, would be muscle mass. This is, however, compeletly my opinion. It is an educated opinion, however! I hope you all the success, and hope you hit your goals! Good Luck!

I can tell you that skinny fat would suck. I have an intense fear of that and I know that after this cut i'm going to bulk for awhile. I dont care if I'm fat still. Like I said INTENSE fear close to a phobia. I'm thinking of bulking as lean as i can till i hit 240 again. 4 to 6 months worth hopefully. Then start a cut again. I'd rather be fat-fat than skinny fat. Actually I'd rather be fat than skinny period. To worsen my problem people always tell me i'm getting skinny / small. The CEO of the company I work for actually stopped me the other day and sheepishly asked me if I was losing weight on purpose because he didnt want to compliment and offend. I asked why would you think I would be offended and he said because i didnt know if you were sick or not. Sick, can you believe that. Anyway I know from my pics now and probably at the end of this cut the masses will say cut more but there is no way I'm willing to do that. My wife even calls me small now and she knows how much I hate it. Thats kind of weird isnt it? Anyway sorry for that. I feel better though.

Couldn't agree with you more on that one. The last thing I want is to look skinny/fat. I don't know if it is possible with my frame though. If I start getting the skinny comment, I'll be bulkin' in a hurry. I think I have a ways to go before then though. lol

Hey bro, don't know if I missed the post or not, but your pictures are the last ones I'm waiting for. If I did, please point me to them.

I dont think it did, but I tend to over estimate trackin this stuff on the daily plate. Plus its a little harder trying to decide how much ham the cook added to it. I cant imagine that omelette having 1000+ calories.
Also, on a side note, do any of you guys find it hard to consume around your body weight in protein? Thats one thing Ive been trying to do, try to get at least ~200 grams of protein a day. ****s hard, I usually end up around ~150 for the day. But I did just get another Blender Bottle from the BB store yesterday, so now Im adding a shake at lunch, in addition to the shake after the workout.

Hungry! LOL... Im doin alright, had a nice workout last night, and got about ~12mins of actual HIIT in. Co-workers brought in a bunch of food, I swear its like they are trying to sabotage me. Might have a small bite, just so they dont get pissy, and then hit up Subway. Also got my Blender Bottle for some sure protein at lunch today as well.

Shakes get me there in a hurry. I usually double up on a serving twice a day. Double serving on post work out and usually another one later in the evening. Maybe an hour before bedtime or so. Thats almost 100 grams right there. The rest comes from food though.

Ya that is the worst part. I know they do that at my office sometimes too. Just don't give in too much! A guy asked the other day if I wanted to cheat and have some hot chocolate and I was like nope ill stick to a protein shake thanks! Haha

Tired and cold. My whole routine for the day is messed up now. I worked yesterday until 3pm then I had to go in and work overnight so I could go to a stupid meeting at 9am so I worked from 6-3 on thurs then had to be back at 1am on fri. On thurs when I got out of work I went to the gym then went to sleep around 8 and only got like 3hrs of sleep. I've had twice the amount of meals cuz I had to work all night and I haven't slept yet cuz im to over tired hopefully I will fall asleep during the day. Today was supposed to be my leg day but I will probably take today off since its -15 outside with the windchill. This morning it was -29 with the windchill it was so cold. I hate this weather I can't wait till spring. Well hopefully today doesn't screw up my diet too bad I plan on doing cardio 2 times tomorrow once in the morning and once at night.

I'm having a really good day so far. I feel really good overall. Tonight is party night. lol The band comes over every Friday night. (This is why I weigh in on Saturday mornings. It gives me a reason not to go nuts on the one night I normally would. lol) I always get a little nervous on Fridays though. It's weird, I get antsy the closer I get to my weigh in date. After doing this for 10 straight months, you'd think I would be use to it by now.

That's rough man. I know how the work hours can **** with your life. Make sure you get that rest in. It does no good to hit the gym when you are that drained. It just makes you feel like crap. Rest is a BIG player in the transformation game. Sweet dreams. lol
