you dont need to eat every 2-3 hours. meal frequency has a minimal effect on metabolism, muscle growth, fat loss, etc. Its at the end of the day the total amount of calories you consume which dictates whether you lose fat or not. And you WILL NOT go ultra catabolic and burn off all your muscle if you dont eat every 3 hours, plus im sure your always hugry eating 6 small meals a day. try eating 3-4 more filling meals with the same number of total calories and im sure your diet will go much easier. If your interested in learning a few things and transforming your body, i HIGHLY reccomend going over to the nutrition section and looking at the "Intermittent Fasting" thread.

Not every meal has to be a good ole' home cooked meal either. I personally take a piece of fruit and some veggies to work with me and eat those on my breaks, then I get my meat and such when I get home at night.

So if I had oats and a protein shake for breakfast, then another shake around about mid morning, then lunch, then mid afternoon a shake then my evening meal, would that work?

before you leave for work, throw some grapes and an apple in 1 bag. Throw a yogurt and baby carrots in the other. Snack on these between your main meals. It's quick and healthy

^ what he said.
it is good to eat smaller meals...I believe because it keeps your blood sugar level stable and such (correct me if I'm wrong on that). Either way I find it not too difficult and I never feel hungry because it seems like I'm always eating and I love eating haha

Hard boiled eggs, chicken breast, drumsticks, crudite pack, yogurt, fruits, peanuts, trail mix, avocados, soups, steak, sauteed veggies, rice, baked potatoes, etc. All this can be prepared in advance and brought into work if need be.

eating six meals a day isnt easy but it is better for your metabolic rate.If you eat 6 meals your are always using calories to digest those food.Your RMR will go up and you can consume more calories.Check out my diet in my theards on my page.I pack 4 ziplock bags of chicken ,green veggies, and almonds and bring this to work.Sometime I cant eat every four hours but as soon as I can get to my locker I scraf down my chicken ,almonds and veggies. Also cans of tuna are good for convience. If the meals are small like they are supposed to be it really doesnt take but a few mins to eat them.

Many small meals totaling a certain calorie count X induces no different metabolic rate than fewer, larger calorie meals totaling the same calorie count X per day.

I tend to have "3 proper meals" at home breakfast tea and supper then in the day at work just have 2-3 little snacks maybe some Peanut butter and a shake or a banana and a homemade protein bar eating 6 proper meals is too much for me

I have a fridge at work that doesn't get used by too many people so i bring a bag of groceries and make food at work several times a day. i also have a jug of protein at work and mix shakes a couple of times a day. I know a lot of people aren't lucky enough to work at a place with a kitchen that is seldomly used, but i guess i got lucky

What is so special about a period of a 'day'? Why not eat one 14,000 calorie meal a week?
The point is that big meals spike insulin. Keep the meals small and frequent and you keep your insulin levels consistant... just ask a diabetic how much insulin he/she needs to give themselves for a small meal and then for a large meal... can you guess which will be more?

You're right, the body takes a few days to respond to a change in caloric intake. It's a "day" because it's easier than keeping track of 14000 calories in the span of a week.

Yea I'm aware smaller more frequent meals may help keep blood glucose and insulin more stable but for the average healthy person looking to put on mass it isn't something to be stressing over. For a diabetic, yes they must certainly take this more serious.

I take a baggy with protein powder into the office, and a shaker cup, and use that for meals 2 and 4. Plus maybe a yogurt from the snack machine. Not that hard, actually.

Its not like you need to sit down to a lavish Henry VIII feast.
Its a small meal that take 10 minutes.
Plan ahead, cook everything on the bbq or foreman on the weekend and ziplock it.

I eat 4 meals a day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, night-time snack. But I've learned to not stuff myself, except on some rare occasions to change things up. I've lost 15lbs in 6 months because I've ate smarter. I agree with others it's not so much about timing as it is about the quality and quantity of the food itself.
PS, when I was younger I'd eat only twice a day - lunch and dinner. Looking back I just didn't enjoy that.

I have made a pretty easy diet plan. Start out with a good breakfast, then take a peanut-butter sandwich for a snack. Good lunch(I usually do tuna with a bit of mayonaise and redwine vinegar with 2 slices of bread. Takes 5 minutes to fix). Come home, eat something, work out, drink shake, then eat dinner later. If you want, have a little snacky of yogurt or cottage cheese before you go to bed. Not too hard to make a PB sandwich and some tuna+bread to take to school/work.

Planning is everything, you have to know where your next meal is going to come from and what macros will be involved before you get hungry.
Also, I don't know if eating 6 times per day is as important as eating every 2.5 hours, I personally eat 7 meals per day.
