Make sure you take Sproul's 357 Money and Banking class. Most useful class you'll ever take in that program. Beware of Rashidian, try to take Econometrics with someone else. PM me if you want any more dirt on the econ professors lol.

This has changed a lot in the last year though, with the economic downturn and the severe hit the financial industry has taken, you might be better off in engineering. I might have been lucky and gotten into finance as the very last line of hirings.

thanks for the advice man. ive been kind of iffy on staying in electrical engineering myself, because from what ive been hearing alot of employers are starting to look at the overseas markets, namely china and india for alot of their EEs. who knows though, ill stick it out and see what happens.

i was always the kid who was smart enough in HS to get by in honors and AP without real studying, at least from my current perspective. i didnt really develop study skills and an awareness of being a full-time student until this past summer when i retook ochem b and saw the difference in how dedication, note-taking, and going to lecture really made a difference in my grade and my general attitude about such a difficult course
it doesnt surprise me now when people get good grades in a hard class and say it was easy. when you do the work and keep up, it IS easy

I ended up with a 1.667 . One class that i thought was an A ended up being a D. I don't get it because i never got worse than a B on any test, paper, or presentation and most were A's and even A+'s. That fuked **** up real bad because i only had 9 credit hours (dropped 2 classes).
I made some bad choices last semester....partied waayy too much and just didn't study enough. Close to no one would have gotten good grades doing what i did. I'm most likely never going to leave the library next semester, i can't afford to let my goals of becoming a CRNA slip away from me.

When I first went a university, I wasted no time in failing. After the first three weeks, I was ready to withdraw from the school and go back home. But that wasn't an option. I had three chances to pull out and I never took 'em, always deluded myself that it would get better, but it never did. I ended up a broken man after two years of nuthin but trouble.

A
C-
C+
B-
The C+ should really be a B- because they avg. the lecture and discussion and i got an 80 on the dot. According to 1 decimal place, maybe they went more.

You guys that did bad, don't fret. I too did terrible my first year of college. You just need to get disciplined and start kicking ass...it feels so good to crank out A's after having a piss-poor year. Balance is the key..make sure you maintain good balance and keep everything in sync. I ended up destroying(i.e. A's) Organic Chem, Calculus, Microbio, Botany, et al. It really is the best rush/high to own all your classes. Good luck guys..

you got time to fix **** man. I too went in with hopes of med school and ****ed up first semester with a 2.5. in third year now by the way, gpa has improved a lot since then
study your ass off man, don't slack, don't let **** pile up, go to class and never skip. even if a tutorial is optional, attend it.
try and get old labs and exams and practice them ahead of time
most important of all, make friends with seniors in your program, they'll help you out. i'm sure you'll find some in your dorm

Hey Man, I was on academic scholarship at ASU and had to watch my GPA. Here's the short list of things that help. Know the drop/add dates it's real important. I had started a French class, and the professor gave this "I'm here to change the way French is taught" speech. I dropped and added the same class just with another professor. Another tip is to get connected with any groups that have members who can help. Fraternities (not the social ones) or clubs in your field can advise you about what is important to know and more importantly what your professors think you should know. Along these lines the TAs that run the labs can help too. Study at the library to avoid distractions at home. Good luck.

Well that's because you are at a "target school". To be honest, recruiters look for smart people over degree. Everything I have heard is that finance really is not something that you can't pick up with a few months on the job.

88.7 in chem 221 (Got A's on the homework and labs. B's on both midterms, then a C on the big final)
75.6 in bio
****ed up bad on most of the tests. not very good at explaining. the school work and online stuff saved my ass.
Didnt do too bad for my 1st year back in school after 4 -5 years. Just sucks because I dont want it to hurt my chances down the road. specially since i have been a pharmacy tech for about 5 years.
My problem im worried about is im trying to get into pharmacy school.... and back when I was 18, I took a bunch of classes for DST (digital systems technology) pretty much the courses to work for intel.
I stopped after my 2nd term due to huge problams with an ex gf. anyhow, I got C's strait accross the line. electronics, electronoics 2, microchip fabrication, and a few other classes. (got an A or B in CAD though)
Im hoping that carless **** didnt **** up my gpa too bad.... specially since not one of those classes has anything to do with pharmacy.
what majors does everyone else have? what other classes?
next year im taking O chem and A&P. during the summer this year im going to stack up on the basic small classes (econ, physic, speech, etc) then i have to take 1 semester of calc
