New here, Trying to lose 50+ Lbs!
Hey there, I'm just looking for tips and general advice for myself. I've lost 50 lbs already through just changing my eating habits, and have another 54 to go before I reach my goal. My mom is a bodybuilder and has given me some good ideas, I'm just asking around hoping someone knows something I don't.
I currently don't go to the gym, but I got a few DvDs and a set of adjustable weights that I'm hoping will work out alright for a beginner. I'm pretty well set with my diet I think, though any suggestions would be welcome there.
Breakfast:
1/2 cup oatmeal
3 egg whites, 1 whole egg
1/2 cup cottage cheese
Snack:
Sliced apples w/ 2 tbsp natural peanut butter
Lunch:
3oz Chicken Breast
1 cup green lettuce or veggies
1/2 cup brown rice (or sweet potato)
Snack:
Nonfat Yogurt + 1 Tbsp All-Bran cereal or Kashi cereal
Dinner:
3oz Chicken Breast
1 cup green lettuce or veggies
1 cup nonfat milk
Snack:
1 Serv Protein shake powder
2 tbsp natural PB
I can only manage to drink about a liter of water a day at the moment, working on bumping that up a bit. I don't currently have a set workout time but on workdays it would end up being between dinner and pre-bed snack... or before dinner, depending on time.

Congrats on your success so far, sounds like your off to a good start. Just make sure you ease into a workout and don't push yourself too hard too fast. It's not easy at first, but if you stick with it you'll see results soon enough. Good luck with your fitness plans.

Yeah, I'm in no hurry to push myself working out right now. I've done that before and I know it's just about the best way to guarantee that I quit before I even start to see results. Thank you for the reply.

Congrats on the first 50! Looks like you know what doing as long as you're comfortable in your routine it should go pretty smoothly. Keep it up!

But if we get on a treadmill together you are going to get off first or I'm going to die. It's really that simple. I'm not going to be outworked." -Will Smith

Great for sharing your diet plan. I tried it out. Initially, it was tough and I had carving for food, but I drank lot of Water.
Thanks for it.

Congrats on the weight loss, you shedded off 1/4 of your old self in about 13 weeks; tremendous so far. Keep it up, you know what your doing...especially when you did this without going to the gym. A good diet with a nice calorie deficit that increases your metabolism combined with a hour of exercise such as walking will do wonders for anyone!

@iDrive - Haven't gotten comfortable with the workout routine yet, still pretty difficult doing an unfamiliar routine with equipment I'm not used to (using the Firm dvds because if I have something in my house I'll be more likely to use it), but it's getting better. Did my second workout today.
@Empyre - Like Jon said, it's been about 13 (almost 14) weeks now, though my diet earlier on was a little lower calorie and I wasn't working out at all. I know that wasn't healthy so I decided to change it to something a little more sustainable in the long run.
@HabitualHealth - Thank you, and wow, you look great! I can only hope I look that good when I get to my goal... It's kinda difficult to imagine at this point.
@Aparichit - No problem, the diet works well for me. I'm almost never hungry and I feel great on it.
@Jonb25 - I don't feel like I know what I'm doing, hehe. I call my mom (she's Fit_Focus here on BB.com) at least once a day to ask her one thing or another. I'm just glad she's there to help or I'd be so lost!
Thank you all for your comments and support. I'll be updating my Space as often as I can and as I see progress.

First and foremost congratulations on the already gone 50, you're well on your way.
The only thing I see really in need of dire change is water water water, but of course that'll come in time and you already know it's importance. When I started the intense water drinking I had to baby myself into it with 5calorie crystal light packages: But, after a while I finally just got it and the water thing clicked and now I can pass as a mermaid most days.
Just keep browsing this website, if you ever have on off day or such, it always helps to motivate me to either work out, or put the cookie down just from seeing all the success here.
Best of luck :]

@Amandarose - Thanks for the advice. I honestly don't have trouble downing plain water, I just usually forget to drink especially when I'm working. I'm a nursing assistant in the dementia wing of an adult home so I'm usually running around like a chicken with its head cut off. When I'm home I keep a bottle of water nearby at all times though.
@darknessesedge - I had cut calories a lot more before I really started exercising, and I was afraid that I'd start gaining when I changed to my current diet but so far I've been losing still. With all that I get about 1400-1600 calories (depending on snacks). I may have to adjust if I don't see any changes, though I know I need to stop relying on the scale for that...
