It's not that simple. Meth manufacturing affects allot more people than those people using. I've seen reports of meth labs blowing up and taking out the residence on either side of it. Little kids getting poisoned or burned who's only 'sin' is having moronic parents cooking meth. Innocent people getting shot in drive bys. People getting robbed by junkies needing money for their fix. If you have a meth house in your neighborhood, look at the scum that drives past your house looking to score. And sometimes, bad stuff just happens to good people.
Banning ephedra will not solve the drug problem and I do not agree with the FDA but if you think that the problem does not affect you, think again.

Thanks Manteca!
If you have aspirations to be in the biotech industry your employment options are rather limited. After college you can get a job at a drug manufacturer, the FDA or teach, and thats about it. Not too many other options out there. If you look at the job vacancy announcements from the biotech firms you will see almost all of them want people who have experience with the FDA drug approval process, and one is even so blatent as to say FDA staff. Now who better to fill this position than say somebody who is retiring from the FDA, who would be more familiar with the approval process? Who would have personal relationships with key FDA staffers enabling a new drug to be fast-tracked to market?
For arguments sake lets say I just retired from the FDA after putting in my 20 years. I now have a fat Federal retirement, but I'm only 44, so I get a job with Pfizer. Pfizer need to get FDA approval on Viagra2, so I get tasked with smoothing the process. I call up my 'ol buddy Manteca who still works at the FDA, who will be retiring himself in 3 years, and ask a favor. Manteca says he's worried about employment opportunities after he retires in 3 years, I tell him no problem, got a job on hold for you right here! Mantaca says cool and Viagra2 slides right on through no hitches or snags.
I'll post some of the job vacancy announcements at the bottem of this post and you can read what they are looking for yourself. the process works the other way as well, most FDA job vacancies are looking for people with major pharmacuetical experience.
This also sheds a little light on why the major pharmacueticals hate the supplement industry. The drug manufacturers have to go through years of testing to get approval to release a drug. the supplement companies do not, they can release immediatly without any tests what-so-ever. Advantage supplement manufacturers.

I know ephedrine can be a performance enhancer on its own, I don't know about direct fat loss however.

That reminds me of how we keep buying multi billion dollars weapon systems when the troops cannot afford enough of the newest bullet proof vests !! (any genearals want to go work at a vest shop after retiring????? Hello? No one? )
Thanks for bringing your valuable insight, Sabercat.
It is good to see that there are still high caliber members participating at this board.

Isn't that exactly what Col. Oliver North did? I think he started his own vest company.
Thanks. Speaking of high caliber members, your input on this board is missed. When should we expect your return?

You are embarassing me w/ such remarks. lol
I will be here more often.
North is still having lots of influence/access to the military. I like him. He is a patriot. But I don't like the way he abandoned his faithful and loyal then secretary. There might be more to the story. But anyhow.
As regarding the Biotech industry, I don't fault them. The industry is in a rough time. Heck, if you don't get FDA approval, you got no sales coming. No business can survive that!! They have to get their products approved ASAP. It is a make or break situation. Unlike the established pharmaceiticals, most of them are burning thru their capital raised during the wild boom of biotech maniac on Wall Street during the early 90's. That was 10 yrs ago!!! The crazy funding frenzy is not coming back anytime soon. So many biotech firms have either folded or bought up by major pharmaceuticals. The remaining ones have 1 or 2 approved products bringing in revenues and some promising ones in the Phase II or Phase III clinical tirals and more at research stage.
So, yeah, NO FDA approval, no sales, no income, no future!!

A little humour...
Taken from Zero Wing (an old SEGA Genesis game)
Captain: What happen?
Mechanic: Someone set up us the bomb
Operator: We get signal
Captain: What!
Operator: Main screen turn on.
Captain: It's you!!
Cats: How are you gentlemen!!
Cats: All your base are belong to us
Cats: You are on the way to destruction
Captain: What you say?
Cats: You have no chance to survive make your time
Cats: Ha ha ha ....
Operator: Captain!!
Captain: Take off every 'ZIG'!!
Captain: Move 'ZIG'.
Captain: For great justice.
Kind of appropriate, don't you think?

criminalizing ephedra
As PJ O'Rourke observed, "giving money and power to the government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenagers." These supplements may be as useless as teats on a boar, but by God, Sir, I will defend your right to waste your money in any way you see fit with my life!

Saw this article on ESPN today regarding the continueing Ephedra use in the NFL, even though they banned it. Thought maybe somebody might find it interesting.

I noticed that. I also noticed no author's name on the article, just Associated Press. If there had been an author I would have e-mailed him and asked him to support that allegation. Guess its safer to spew lies and inuendo anonymously.

Missing the ephedra....
Once the ephedra was removed....my results slowed to where I stopped working out for a little while. I'm one of those who can gain muscle easily but the fat comes on just as quickly and it's a pain in the ass to burn it off.
When hydroxycut had the ephedra their product rocked but now it's seems to barely worked. I have not tried the hardcore product yet. Currently I finished off my bottle of regular Ripped Fuel by TwinLab which I had amazing results taking a half dose and now have switched over to their Extreme version and taking the full dose. I'm anxious to see what the result will be.
I slightly understand why they made ephedra illegal but shouldn't it be each individual's responsibility for what they put in their body? I think as long as the warning are posted, why not let companies sell it.
They let Alli onto the market and the side effect in my opinion is a health hazard. Leakage, with the chance of someone leaving a surprise for the next person to use the same seat poses a health risk.
With ephedra, there is a chance of harm to the person taking it but then again it was those who probably were not healthy enough to take it or those who abused the product.
LET EPHEDRA BACK IN THE U.S.!!!

I dont know what "Alli" is, but other than that I agree. It should be each individual's choice. I wish they would bring it back as well, I never got to try and of those old school hyrdoxcuts or ripped fuels when they had ephedra

If we talk about meth I have to say that we all know that it can be ude in medicin too. withdrawal from methadone is much slower than that from heroin. As a result, it is possible to maintain an addict on methadone without harsh side effects. Many MMT patients require continuous treatment, sometimes over a period of years. And sometimes they start to abuse the medicine...that's why it is quite dangerous. I have a friend that works in a rehab clinic long term drug rehab, and he told me many story about methadone.trust me!

Some people gain prescription pill addiction because they have to take a treatment for a period of time that is too long and the body gains the constant need of the substance in the pill. Those people can't be considered addicts like ones self inflicting the addiction.
