Can working out cause mood swings?

I am not on any testosterone boosters or roids or anything but I have noticed my fuse has gotten shorter. I only take the normal protien, omega 3's, and pre-workout energy booster (nano vapor).I have been in the gym pretty hard the past two months and only in the past month I have been really doing it right and heavy. I have noticed great progress but I have also noticed my temper is getting worse. Is this normal? Could it be the working out natrally boosting my testosterone levels. Oh and I am 26yo so I don't think my testosterone levels have started dropping yet. What are your thoughts?

Do more cardio - no-one knows how serotonin makes you happier really, but it does seem to be an effective way of balancing your mood. Weightlifting, no matter what type, what resistance etc .. won't release serotonin.

Personally, I think that the benefits of weight-lifting are secondary in terms of mental well-being. Body-confidence, positive-self image etc are big pluses you get from it. But the lifestyle can wear you down. If you're like me, you have to work out Real early. It's cold, and miserable - you're groggy and tired. Your breakfast consisted of oats and a banana. You go and blast yourself in the gym with no friendly faces around, just a couple of early morning dudes working away their troubles before work..

You get home, shattered, take your pwo ****, fruit, creatine, ba, vits, whey etc, quickly shower while the stress starts to kick in because you have a ton of work to get done, with no-one else to motivate you but yourself.

Pretty ****ty to be fair. So I really recommend doing cardio in the evenings - because you get a real nice mood lift from that. Also I (used) to enjoy running in the evenings because it's not so busy (I live in the city) and you can pound away a bit faster. (Never understood day city runners).

I think it's been hinted on already, but if you take a lot of nonsense - like NO products and caffeine and all that sugary rubbish - then all it can do is bring you down. It's not healthy. Guys lift all these weights and think they're fit. That's rubbish - most of them would explode if they tried to do any real cardio - they don't have the physical endurance, nor the general health to safely push themselves at a reasonably elite level.

Cardio cardio cardio, and water - you'll feel better in a week (I tend to get dehydrated and mild headaches from it which makes me irritable)

your testosterone levels have already or are peaking and may even be dropping. the average is around 25 years for test levels to start dropping but my brother's dropped by age 23, for instance.
