Possible? Anything is possible. Wise is another story. I think you'd have many more implications traveling back in time than forward to the future IMO.
so we travel back in time, and you see yourself, there's 2 of you living and breathing at once?
you kill your grandpa when he was 15, how will you be born in the future?
how do you "rewind" time and turn back events everyone's done?
how does the conciousness of dead people "come back" to relive their lives as the "past"
I have travelled here from the future to tell the mods to close this thread. The ideas that result from this conversation will lead to the creation of the first time machine and ultimately the death of all humanity. I bet of you, stop before it's too late.

multiple timelines maybe?? I suspect that even if you could travel back in time, it wouldn't actually change what had happened to the future you previously resided in (since it did actually happen). Probably an offshoot would be created.

So everything is an illusion? The people you see in the past arent "really there?" So they arent thinking and concious?

no, there are strict laws of physics, quantum mechanics, chemistry and many other things that restrict "anything is possible"
I guess if anything is possible then I should be able to turn myself into spiderman!

i wouldnt think people who were dead would come back to life. If its true time travel then you would be going "back" to when they were alive. Its not recreating the past in modern time.
There were videos posted on this forum awhile ago all about time travel and how it can actually be possible. They were on youtube.

who believes its possible to go back in time?
Going to the future IS possible, but needs way more technology.
I think it's a pretty big leap to state going into the future is possible. If it's possible then going to the past would also be possible.
That all being said there are some interesting studies that show it may be possible

I've read that time travel backwards is not possible in the true sense. In order to travel "backwards," you would have to use a worm hole and then you would end up an identical universe to the time you are trying to revert to, but it's not technically your universe, as your universe is no longer at that time. So, when you go foward in time, you will stay in that same universe, and not in your original one. That's the only possibility that makes any sense to me. I mean, how exactly do you go to the past when we're right here? I'm not ten years in the past. I'm here, and everyone else in this universe is right here.
Actually reversing your own universe makes absolutely no sense to me. Then, again, I'm not a quantum physisist, but it seems illogical.

Not true. People travel forward in time all the time. Every time you get on a train, plane, bus, etc, you go forward in time slightly faster than everyone else. They've used clocks to prove this.

No, they are there, but maybe time isn't linear as such. Maybe there are parallel worlds where you did something else. If you go back in time five years and kill yourself, I think an argument could be made that you (the time machine you) will not simply die too. If that is the case, then surely there is room for pondering that different realities can be spawned?
Of course, it may be that travelling backwards just isn't possible, in which case such thoughts will always be more science fiction than science fact.

You have to remember the whole multiverse idea is highly speculative. There is zero evidence for it

i thought going forward faster than others slowed down time, not sped it up? like, when astronauts come back from circling the Earth at 100,000 mph, they are a couple of minutes younger, not older than everyone down here when they left, which would mean time slowed down for them

Under the laws we understand now, you're 100% correct, I'm not going to argue about that. You don't know however what laws will be debunked with new findings in the future - there's a lot humans have yet to unearth. So again, anything is possible, you just might not know it yet. I also don't appreciate the neg rep for no reason.

Right, I just worded it sort of weird. Really, It's just a matter of perception. Let's say they get on a space ship and start watching a movie at the same time someone on earth is starting the same movie. Then, the space ship approaches the speed of light for a while and then checks back in after the movie on the ship is done. The people on earth will still be watching the movie, so, from the perspective of people on earth, the astronauts watched the movie faster and traveled faster through time, even though time actually slowed down for the people on board.

THe clock in that video.. if you move it it takes the light longer to reach its point to bounce off of.. well duh! It has to travel further. And that has nothing to do with time.
Time travel is fake.. TIme is a measurement of events taking place.. Not a real tangible thing.
Dont get mad this is just my oppinion
And my mind is open to it still but for now. Im gonna think its never gonna happen

Atomic clocks in space have to be reset all the time(or programmed different) because the times don't match up with time on earth.
Time moves at different rates. And though not solved yet the physics makes it seem that time doesn't actually even exist.
