I have been using Finasteride for a couple of months and can definitely vouch for it. My hair is thicker all over, and I have a little regrowth in the front. They say it takes up to 12 months to see full results so I will keep everyone updated.
I'd like to mention, for educational purposes only, that there is only one procedure proven to grow back ALL lost hair, and that is removal of the testicles. It has been observed that eunuchs grow back all their hair, though for obvious reasons, I doubt anyone here is willing to sacrifice that much to grow back their hair.

Willow Lake Shampoo & Conditioner; both with green tea, aloe, & vitamin E... (its not marketed to stop hair loss but it definetly works)
I was picking up at least 75 hairs out of the drain at the end of my showers; BIG GLOBBS...I noticed a HUGE difference in only 1 week of use and now after about 3 weeks I have literally NO hair to take out of the drain filter...
if I had to guess, I would say that its probably a combination of the aloe & sodium lauryl sulfate that is doing the trick; aloe to soothe and combat inflammation; the SLS, as opposed to the ammonium lauryl sulfate found in most cheap shampoos like suave, is slightly acidic as its made in part from sulphuric acid which might make it a little harder for androgens to 'live' on/in the scalp...
OK now I have a question...would it be likely for me to see any hair REGROWTH if I started using Nizoral 2% shampoo?

I've ordered a 6 month prescription of propecia and now I'm looking at getting a liquid treatment. Can't decide between Minoxidil, Rogain and Spectral DNC. Any advice (money isn't an issue).

Hair Loss can be a very painful experience watching your hair shed everyday!
If you are on supplements that promote hair loss and your hair is important to you I urge you to stop the supplements immediately!
Before you try a supplement read about it and sees how well it worked for other people before you.
****DON'T GO CRAZY AND BUY PRODUCTS THAT WONT WORK THE ONLY PROVEN ONES THAT DO WORK ARE MINOXIDIL 5% YOU CAN GET IT IN THE GENERIC MUCH CHEAPER CALLED KIRKLAND AND EITHER PROPECIA AND PROSCAR. DO NOT GET FOOLED BY COMERCIALS OR OTHER PRODUCTS****
If you stop your supplements it will take time for your hair to stop falling but you should immediately start using Minoxidil 5% twice a day 1 in the morning and once in the afternoon before bed right after your shower and either use Propecia or Proscar along with Minoxidil.
If your hair continues to shed after a while from stopping the supplements then you?re more likely will have a balding pattern and it may run in your family..then Minoxidil and Propecia or Proscar will only help you to slow it down and not actually eliminate the problem.
Then if you can afford to have a transplant done or thinking about a transplant one of the greatest doctors that I ran across is Antonio Armani based out of Toronto Canada..do your research and you'll know exactly who he is.
Good Luck,

I'll admit I did not read all 16pgs of reply. If this was already said my bad. The herbs rosemary, burdockroot, horsetail (can only can be taken 2wks at a time. then need break for a month or so). MSM and B-Complex. Also watch your sugar intake.

Anyone try any Nu Hair products?
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/nuhair/nuhair.htm
They have a DHT blocker. Does anyone know if it works? Would a DHT blocker negatively effect testosterone levels and muscle gains?

I think if there was a fix Nicholas Cage and Donald Trump would have full heads of hair. They can afford any kink of treatment.

Why would you combine a topical anti-androgen with a systemic DHT BLITZER with massive side effects? You only want to block the actions of DHT in scalp tissue.
And for your comments to be true, you would have to know the complete mechanisms behind minoxidil to say that nothing else works.

Revita has Ketoconazole 2% where as Nizoral has 1%
I'm thinking about getting Spironolactone Lotion 5% w/o Propylene Glycol because it's not supposed to smell bad like the liquid form. Anyone ever use this stuff? Does it evaporate or stay greasy in your hair?

Where you getting your info. from, dude? Revita has 2% Keto? And Nizoral comes in 1% and 2% (Prescription).
I'm also considering the Spiro Lotion, but I'm hesitant because I read somewhere that some dude used it and it lowered his testosterone levels. He didn't get into details about whether he was on anything else, so I don't know.

Finasteride (marketed as Proscar, Propecia, Fincar, Finpecia, Finax, Finast, Finara, Finalo, Prosteride, Gefina, Appecia, Finasterid IVAX, Finasterid Alternova) is a synthetic antiandrogen which acts by inhibiting type II 5-alpha reductase, the enzyme that converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It is used as a treatment in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in low doses, and prostate cancer in higher doses. A May, 2008 study indicates that Finasteride reduces the rate of prostate cancer by 30% (see below). It is also indicated for use in combination with doxazosin therapy to reduce the risk for symptomatic progression of BPH. Additionally, it is registered in many countries for androgenetic alopecia (male-pattern baldness).
Finasteride was approved initially in 1992 as Proscar, a treatment for prostate enlargement, but the sponsor had studied 1 mg of finasteride and demonstrated hair growth in male pattern hair loss. On December 22, 1997, the USFDA approved finasteride to treat male pattern hair loss.
And your more accurate description would be what? You block DHT form forming systemically, do you know what happens?
Quote:
If these comments were true, you'd think Merck would of opted to market Propecia in a topical form.
I also never said minoxidil is the only thing that works. Its one of the only two things PROVEN to work. Other people have had success using laser beams, zinc, b6, fish oil., etc.
|
Because the motives of BigPharm are beyond reproach. Maybe because it's a hell of a lot simpler and cheaper to press a simple tablet than to come up with something to work locally?
And let me guess, by proven you mean FDA? Damn, that's beyond reproach too.

Actually I thought I read that in the ingredients but I must have confused it with some other product, my mistake.
I heard Spiro was the most effective in stopping DHT in the scalp. I too would like to know if it effects test levels throughout your body.

Hair loss
I heard rubbing certain charcoals into your forehead each evening prior to sleep well encourage hair growth. Most used charcoals is that of the Australian muddle plant, only found in Casino, Western New South Wales.

I was considering giving Virile Mane a go, which part of the day would I include Virile Mane to my current treatment? I'm currently using Xandrox night and day, and have no intentions of dropping the Xandrox. How long does this stuff have to be left on for? Also, could you post some more pics of your results with Virile Mane? The pictures I've seen so far are shot in angles that aren't consistent.

VM is best used right before bed, to take advantage of the interaction between IGF-1 and nighttime GH release to maximize growth.
For best results, apply right before bed then shower like normal in the morning (this is for once a day).
I'll try to post up some updated pics on the main thread this week. Santa's been a busy boy this week and I'm surprised I have ripped the rest of my hair out.

Does Virile Mane interact with topical finasteride, minoxidil, or azelaic acid? I wanna pick up Virile Mane, but like I said, I don't wanna discontinue, rather, can't afford to discontinue my current treatment.

You are using finasteride topically? What kind of carrier?
Axelaic acid, probably not.
The minox issue has been brought up. Since the mechanism by which minox sort of works is not completely understood, it's possible that there might be a detriment to using both. If you do want to use both, it's recommended that you use the minox in the morning and VM at night.

125 mL liquid. 15% minoxidil (150mg minoxidil/mL), 5% azelaic acid (50mg azelaic acid/mL), 0.1% finasteride in a true solution with a base of 80% ethyl alcohol, 20% glycerin and a trace of phosphoric acid.
By the way I was using this product but I have stopped, I was getting an uncomfortable feeling down below. I have dropped all minoxidil products and I am using Virile Mane only now. The hairline growth is very nice
