I checked out the photos, and you certainly look excellent. Great work! It's hard to tell from the photos, but you clearly look at least as good as the other competitors- judging these shows can be hard if everyone looks good. Best of luck next year!

I'm 47 yrs old born and raised in Waipahu, Hawaii. I stand 6 ft tall and 200 lbs.
Been working out for about 4 1/2 yrs now.
I gained about 50 lbs (170 lbs) since then up to 220 lbs then since leaning out for about a month in a 1/2 dropped down to my present weight at 200 lbs. I am still in my leaning out process.

I haven't posted pics for a long long time now. Two weeks ago, I decided to start a cutting diet and see how low I can bring my bf.
I'm about 206lbs at the moment, no real idea about the bf but I guess it must be somewhere between 10 and 15. I'm trying to be very strict and get no more than 2500 cal a day. Up to now things are going nicely. I still have a lot of energy and am able to lift heavier weight than before. I'm planning to add more cardio and lower the carbs to see where it will take me.
Today I took a few pics.
The road is still long, but little by little I'm getting closer to my goal

FWIW. The b/f estimate is out. I'd say you are closer to 20+%. Get yourself a set of b/f calipers and keep a log. Then you can see how you're going
Weight aint the best measure particularly if your hitting the weights as, in fact, as your b/f might be going down - your leam mass may (should) be going up and a nett gain ensues.
Keep it up as the basis of a good build is definately there.

What's your assessment?
Okay, as a hairy Italian male, someone suggested that I shave my chest and stomach to get a "good reading" of my physique. So I did. I look like a pale marshmallow. Somebody was right...I DO need a tan! That aside, let's critique my bod.
Honestly, not too bad as I thought but there is definitely work to be done. For starters, abs and obliques for sure! Shoulder caps and arms seem okay. My legs are in good shape even though it is not shown in the pic.
My chest though is not what I had hoped. I would like it to be more rounder, fuller...maybe it's not in my genes or maybe I haven't worked them out right. I would like to close the gap between the two pecs and the sides of the chest could be thicker.
Maybe I'm being too critical or maybe I made the right assessment. What do y'all think?

Right now the single most important thing you can do is put aside the microanalysis and go get lean. You would be absolutely amazed....AMAZED at what that would do.
If you dropped 15-20 lbs...maybe more...then all that **** would all be little stuff.

Thanks. The last picture is of me much smoother. My usual look. When I get into shape for a show, getting a drawn face makes me look older I guess.

Thanks! I do legs only once per week , I do hack squats or leg presses followed by leg extensions. I keep my reps in the 8-10 range. I do stiff legged dumbell deadlifts and seated leg curls for hamstrings, 10 rep range, Then I do calf extensions on the leg press, keeping reps in the 12-15 range. I did 2 shows this year and won overalls.

Its you. But the last pics looks like a different person.
I need another two years to get to that point. 5 years of bulking will take a couple of years of cuts...

Transformation to 40
Hey all,
I started on my transformation about 3 months ago, give or take. It was tough at the beginning because of work, but I got through it. I have been sticking to my workouts and just as importantly my nutrition plan (I will not call it a diet). I am please with my results so for. I am at about 206 and trying to bring that up to about 215 by the end of February before I start to cut. My goal is 215 and 10% BF for my 40th Birthday. I have about 10 months to go.
Here is me back in August at the beach. I saw these and was "inspired" (more like disgusted) and headed for the gym.

http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com//i...461562orig.jpg
These were taken around 15 December... About 300 days until I turn 40.

Any feedback would be much appreciated...
Thanks,

I'm an all natural trainee. I am a good but not perfect eater and a 4X a week lifter, 30 minutes or so per session, one major body part each session(Back, Shoulders, Arms, Legs, Chest). Usually a 3X12 per excersize, 4-5 excersizes each session. Diet is somewhere around 3200+ calories a day. I eat clean but not perfect, and I also enjoy a(couple) beer(s) now and then.
The calipers can't exaggerate (every measurement was double checked by my trainers, two 30+ year bb'ing athletes, so I trust them) and here's what the numbers said:
April 08: 164lbs, ??%BF
In June of 08: 166lbs, 14%BF
Late September of 08: 181lbs, 9%BF (these fuzzy pics were taken then)
Sept 25 or so I got hit hard with some sort of bronchitis that put my butt in a hat. Other life problems kept me out of the gym until just before Thanksgiving. I fell on my face, hard, but I'm back at it again, and the weight is coming back nicely. I wrote a bodyspace blog entry about me getting back on the horse. I'm proud of me for not quitting.
My athletic life is just a 'part' of my life, but a very important one. In my athletic life, Eating Right and Lifting are pretty much what I'm all about. I'll let you guys -- who look far more awesome -- do the competition scene.
Tell ya what, I'll find me a good woman and attend to her with my 'good enough' physique, while you guys are up there on stage flexin in the limelight. :P
