Thumbs up Protein in Urine

I compete naturally in the amateur ranks and I went to my doctor yesterday for a routine checkup and they discovered that I have protein in my urine, which they say is a lot higher then it should be. My question is I plan on doing the Northern Kentuck in Mar and I am 12 weeks out. My question is is it safe to continue my diet? Admittedly I do take in a lot of protein, I am just concerned about my kidneys filtering it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

This is something you would have to discuss with your doctor. Protein in your urine can be indicative of kidney problems. So this needs to be ruled out prior to your moving forward.

Best,

If this is just based on one urinalysis, I would go back and get a second. Especially if you had this in the morning. Up your water intake, and if the second one comes back too high consider a blood test.

This is based on blood not urinalysis. So what I am doing now is a 24 hour urine catch.

It showed high protein, I have to do a 24 houyr urine catch for more results and then an ultrsound to make sure my kidneys are shaped properly.
