Well like I said before, I'm new here so I hope that my fellow hoosiers dont mind if I pick their brains alittle.
First off, how do you all stay motivated, I find myself not wanting to give up the foods I love, even tho I know I should. Also with my workouts, I work nights so my workouts are at 3 or 4 in the morning and then I go straight to bed, is that a good thing or does it matter.
I was also alittle curious when another contest was going to be in the state. I think it would be awesome to be a spectator and see what its all about.
Thanks for the help, hope to talk to you all soon.......

I'll offer my 2 cents. Motivation isn't a huge issue for me as long as I'm seeing results in the mirror, the tape measure, and comments from other people. As long as those are coming in, it's all the fuel I need to keep going. The food thing was relatively easy for me so I'm fortunate. I went from drinking 4-5 regular pops a day to zero with relatively no problems. Likewise with cutting out the candy, sugar, high gylcemic carbs, etc. What foods are you having problems letting go of? A lot of foods can be prepared in different ways to be healthier. Fan of fast food burgers? Cook your own at home on the foreman grill with extra lean ground beef on a whole wheat bun. Miss chocolate? Mix some chocolate protein powder, oats, peanut butter, jello chocolate pudding mix (sugar & fat free), and milk together and throw in the fridge for a chocolaty protein bar.
It doesn't really matter when you workout, as long as you get the adequate amount of sleep. If you workout then go to bed at 5 and wake up at 8 we have a problem, but if you were to wake up at noon or 1 then you're fine.
A quick google search didn't tell me anything coming up show wise in Indiana for the rest of the year but I could be mistaken

Train every bodypart HARD once a week. Eat a meal of 60-70 grams of carbs, 40-50 grams protein pre workout, 80-90 grams carbs, 40-50 protein post workout. Those are the basics I find myself repeating the most to new guys at the gym. Guys come in and expect to lift hard, having eaten 5 hours earlier! Running on fumes! LOL!
there will be two OCB competitions in Indianapolis next year. Circle City is in late May. Indiana is in September. www.theocbwebsite.com
NPC shows are the Southern Indiana in Evansville in March, Indianapolis comp in early June, GNC Central Indiana (in Anderson) in late June, Indiana in Ft. Wayne in July.
Plenty of comps to check out (or compete in!).

Thanks for all the advice. Alot of the food I dont have a problem with. I havent ate candy in like 10 years, I just quit smoking in Aug. I hate fast food but love burgers but made the switch to turkey burgers. I was alittle curious about stuff like chili, chicken and dumplings.
Because I work all night and drive, its hard to be heating something up for supper or eatting every couple hour, and i dont think that i can live off of meal replacement shakes lol.
And about the comps, I would just like to watch one in action. Not really interested in competing just yet.
Thanks again for the help..........

What part of Indy? I know Anytime Fitness has a few places in the surrounding areas. Never been to one myself, but a friend of mine used to talk about how great it was to go to the gym at 11:30 P.M. and nobody was there to bother him.

I did some poking around. There's an Anytime Fitness in Avon and another in Plainfield. That's about as close to the west side as I could find anything. On the east side they have locations in Geist and Oaklandon, south side locations at Camby and Southport, and northside locations in Carmel, Zionsville and 86th street.

Hey! Nice to see all you fellow fitness buffs from Indiana! I was wondering where in the world everyone was! I know there's more of us out here! Yeah, happy to see and hopefully chat and meet you all. Great success with your training and goals, keep in touch everyone! We'll have to have a giant meetup maybe in Indy in the summer... Liz
