Evening all.
So, first day of the hols! Started my coursework (not much today, just took some photos- I'll give myself a few days before getting stuck into the sodding sketchbook). Also had to phone pain-in-the-ass tailors this morning to chase them up. I'm getting pretty concerned about my Autumn/Winter samples- they don't seem to appreciate I'm on a timetable.
Aside from that, had a coffee in time with my Dad (plus a second, free coffee. We had a massive wait on my Dad's bagel, so the barrista took pity, us being regulars). Also posted christmas pressies to NZ and set up the tree so it's all ready for adornment tomorrow.
Had a good leggies workout- as per usual, the side lunges nearly killed me.... I also tried single leg DLs for the first time. That was entertaining.
ATG squats 5 x 12/12/10/10/10 @ 36kg - 1 x 8 @ 41kg
RDLs 4 x 12/10/10/10 @ 36kg - 2 x 6 @ 41kg
BB Alternating Side Lunges 4 x 8 @ 26kg
DB Single Leg DLs 1 x 6 @ 10kg - 2 x 8/6 @ 8kg
BB Calf Raises 5 x 12 @ 46kg (2 count hold)
-Rest times 30 secs-
Plus a LOT of stair walking afterwards, carting boxes of Chrismas decorations down from the attic.

Yay, glad you got to start your holidays. I can't believe they gave you coursework over the holidays. Isn't your semester over? Should you not be starting new classes in January?
I'm not much into the Christmas commercialism either. Some stores here had Christmas stuff out before Halloween. 1 gift to immediate family members only and cards is all I do. No decorations, no big production. But I will take advantage of the after Christmas sales this year to do some much needed clothes shopping and finally buy some clothes that fit.
If its going to be a religious holiday I think the way they do it in Mexico makes more sense. Mexico is very Catholic so they all go to church on Christmas but there are no presents. They do presents on 3 Kings Day, which is the day the 3 kings presented gifts to baby Jesus.
We went to a carnival in Mexico city one year around the Christmas holiday. There were a bunch of booths set up where you could get your picture taken with the 3 kings. Normally the mall has 1 santa, but here you have the choice of 8 different sets of 3 kings in different scenes. To be historically accurate they all try to have one black king, but there are very few black people in Mexico. So they improvise with shoe polish. Or maybe face paint if they can find it, same difference, but it was kinda funny.

The system may work differently in the States. Over here, the curriculum is set for each year rather than each term/semester, so the work next term is a continuation.
January sales are always excellent- you do them so much better over there though! Mind you, there should be some pretty heavy discounting here due to the current need for turnover rather than profit.
That's funny about the shoe polish, though it's nice that they like to be as historically accurate as possible. Sounds much more interesting than sitting on Santa's knee anyway.

Hey Charli! Good looking leg workout.
How are they feeling after carting stuff down from the attic?
Those kinds of things are usually the silent killer for me!

Hey Zig . Yes, not ideal post leg-workout activity- jelly legs + stairs is a bit of a risky combo, especially when both hands are occupied by boxes . But only slight DOMS today. Though with my legs, it's usually 48 hours before it kicks in.

Free is definitely my favourite price. And yes, balance can sometimes be a bit of an issue- a few Kodak moments there

Hiya,
Just got the internet back- broadband's been playing up all day. Very frustrating when there's so much I need to get on with online. Ah well, Sunday's probably the best day for a cock up if there has to be one.
Haven't done a great deal today- a smidge of work on my sketchbook (I'm going to take a little-bit-at-a-time-over-several-days approach) and my workout. And two helpings of sludge.
Back/Chest
DB Incline Bench 1 x 12 @ 8kg - 5 x 12/10/8/8/8 @ 10kg
-Superset with-
BB Bent Over Rows 3 x 12 @ 26kg - 3 x 8/8/6 @ 31kg
DB Decline Bench 4 x 12 @ 10kg
-Superset with-
DB Push Crunches 3 x 10 @ 10kg (using 1 DB)
Single Arm Rows 4 x 10/8/8/8 @ 12.5kg (per side)
Incline Flyes 2 x 12 @ 8kg - 2 x 6 @ 10kg
-Superset with-
BB Shrugs 4 x 10/10/8/7 @ 36kg
Push Ups 2 x 12/10 (BW)

I had an interesting workout today- I made it into a kind of circuit. I went through the list of exercises, doing one set of each, no rest, then started again from the beginning for a total of four circuits. Unsurprisingly, it took a very speedy 35 mins.
Shoulders/Bis/Tris
DB Overhead Presses @ 8kg (Round 1)12 (Round 2)10 (Round 3)10 (Round 4)10
DB Skullcrushers (using 2 DB) @ 6kg (1)12 (2)10 (3)8 (4)8
Arnie Presses @ 6kg (1)10 (2)7 (3)6 (4)6
Hammer Curls @ 8kg (1)8 (2)8 (3)6 (4)6
DB Upright Rows @ 8kg (1)12 (2)10 (3)10 (4)10
Push Ups @ BW (1)10 (2)10 (3)10 (4)10
Side Lat Raises @ 4kg (1)8 (2)8 (3)8 (4)8
Kickbacks (per side) @ 6kg (1)12 (2)12 (3)12 (4)12
Concentration Curls (per side) @ 8kg (1)12 (2)12 (3)10 (4)10
'Twas fun

Hey Charli, hope you had a good weekend. What kind of project are you sketching now?
Workouts are looking stronger. Keep up the good work.

The projects all follow the same basic structure- the sketchbook I'm doing now is supposed to be an aestetically pleasing collection of colour, shape and texture that I'll use next term to inspire fabric. I find the sketchbook phase very tedious because it relies a lot on drawing/painting skills, of which mine are fairly limited.
I think doing a small amount most days rather than just blitzing through it is going to be the best approach- especially because if I'm doing a bit of something all the time, I'm not going to start feeling 'lazy'. If I have too much free time, I really don't know what to do with myself!

Solid session, do you have a planned routine or just change the setups of the workouts by how you feel?

Up until a couple of weeks ago, I'd always had a planned split, which I'd change up every few months. Now I've decided to try mixing it up from session to session and see how that works out. It should keep things interesting

Don't worry, I'm working very unhard
I'm with you on the sludge-as-single-essential-food-group theory.

Afternoon and happy Tuesday.
I've completed my allocated coursework smidge, my abs workout and my first tub of quark. So, a fairly productive morning. I'm not sure what this afternoon holds, although inevitably there will be a bout of gah-must-do-coursework hysteria. I do wish the little voices would shut the hell up.
My very first Charlotte C press coverage happened yesterday, over in New Zealand. A colour photo and lots of quotes from me, so I was pleased.
Speaking of New Zealand, my container finally arrived, so it'll be delivered here on Friday. It'll be like having a whole new wardrobe . The shelves and drawers are shivering in anticipation.

I bet that would be good. Would probably work well if put an egg in there before you bake it.

Thanks for the congrats girls . No link to it, but once I receive it from Mumsy, I might just scan it in.
Ta for the cheesecake reminder- I really must stop being so lazy and experiment with my quark. But it's just so good straight out the tub....

So today.... (layout inspired by Zig )
Coursework- check
Coffee in town- check
Recession depression- check (not mine today though, I was in the cheer-up-depressee role)
John-Wayne-film-gait inspiring leg workout- check
Legs
ATG squats 5 x 12/12/10/10/10 @ 36kg - 1 x 8 @ 41kg
RDLs 4 x 12/10/10/10 @ 36kg - 2 x 6 @ 41kg
BB Alternating Side Lunges 4 x 8 @ 26kg
DB Single Leg Split Squats 3 x 10/10/8 @ 10kg
BB Calf Raises 4 x 12 @ 46kg (2 count hold)
-Rest times 30-45 secs-
No plans for tomorrow- some coursework, probably no workout (but we'll see), a spot of R & R and I suppose I should clear space for the arrival of my NZ boxes. Ooh and maybe I'll wrap Christmas pressies. Still need to buy a few, plus cards. I fear I'm going to be in the West End on the 23rd, doing the last-minute rounds. Not for the clautrophobic, and very tough on the plebaphobic (such as my snobby self ).
