30-1hr everyday for major classes, or classes that I feel I need to study for. Classes like ethics, speech, etc don't require much studying. But best way to get ready for a test is to study through out the course and actually learning the material and not memorizing.

I guess i can get by doing well just by listening in class and doing the homework regularly.

I'm a freshman and I chuckle at my friends in the same year for saying those things. I'm in a PharmD major, and if they study that much for beginner classes, then they are gonna be studying like hell for classes later on...lol
I study a few hours the day before an exam

There's no such thing as a "PharmD major" since any Bachelor's degree suffices to apply to Pharm schools

True..but I'm in a 0-6 program..we start taking pharm courses in the second year. Once we get into graduate study obviously that will not matter.

I didn't study at all until the week before my exams, then I would live in the library. Engineering, at least freshman courses, are nice because once you understand a concept, you are good to go. No reading has to be done, and very little work aside from just understanding the concepts.

yo man welcome to college, its sick and only gets better, im a Senior. I always did okay in school with no effort, but last semester when i started struggling i just decided to actually study a little(no more than 30 min to an hour depending on quiz or exam), actually GO to class(95% of the time), and actually do the assignments instead of trying to figure out how to get around them. SO MUCH BETTER my man.
Good luck.

I don't know what classes you guys are taking that have 'homework', but those sound like a joke.
Most of my classes consist of 4-5 tests only.
As for studying, I study a good 4-5 hours a day, except for the week after my science tests. And these are only spent studying for the those classes (Currently: Genetics and Physics). I blow off the rest of my classes and settle for B+'s and such.
I'm a 3rd year Bio major in a program where I gotta maintain a 3.5 cumulative science/math and overall GPA, so I can automatically get into med school.

i'll study about 4-6 hours before a midterm or final. I've probably done 8-10 hours for some of the harder tests, but on the other hand some tests i'll not need to study much at all for.
Good news, i got an A- in one of my classes and all i did was study for the midterm and study for the final. I went to class twice besides the exams.

20+ hours a week as computer engineering and computer science.
I'm economics major now though, so probably less.

u actually have a lot more free time then u realize
24 hours in each day
24-8 hours of sleep (if u even get 8 hrs of sleep)
16- 5 hours of class (and this is pushin it for hours of class in a day)
11- 4 hours for working out preparing/eating meals in a day
7- hours of free time to study/party
most of these are pushing it too
