I look at GNC like I do a convience store. I do all my research from the MFG or BB.com or some kind of reputable source before buying from them. Like you said if I run out or need it right then and thier I get it. Otherwise I order from here. Vitamin World's seem to have a fairy knowledgable staff. However they same as GNC seem to push certain products (due to spiffs or kickbacks). So again take those places for face value.

Yeah GNC employees usually try to push MuscleTech nonsense on me when I go there to check out the clearance rack.
Once in awhile there is someone at GNC who knows their supplements but that is rare. That is one of the reasons why I order at bb.com and other online places.

walking into a GNC and seeing someone who should be at home playing World of Warcraft try to sell me supps is reason enough for me not to go there. Oh and their god awful prices also.

i just quit there like a month after being employed for over 2 years...GNC is seriously OVERPRICED.. and working there is harsh the reasons why they push vitamins so much is because it cost the company less than 75cents to make a 90ct bottle that they sell for $20.. and because of the commission you cant trust any sale associates..

GNC Sux
heres the last conversation I had with the 5'8' 130 lb dork working at my local GNC.... Im done with them forever.
Sales Associate; "looking for anything in particular?"
Me; "no, I know what I want"
SA; "do you take a multi-vitamin?"
Me; "of course I do"
SA; "well Mega Men is natural and free of additives"
Me; "look kid, dont try to sell me anything, I already know what I want"
SA; "no really you should try it, its the only one I use"
Me; "ummm, judging by your physique, you arent really the poster child for the product kid, do you even go to a gym?"
SA; "no really it works for me"
Me; "well look at me, and look at you, I DONT use Mega Men, and you do, thats all I need to know"
SA; "but ...
Me: "nevermind, Im outta here"
and I havent been back since.

GNC should be illegal
GNC? Can I ask one question, WHY?! Same with almost any Vitamin/Nutrient Store. They are all taxed and over charged. The people that work there aren't even in shape. From store to store their employees get stupidier and stupider. Bodybuilding.com all the way. How hard it is it to save 10-100$ and wait 3 days for shipping? If you've been in the gym for 1 year or longer and still use GNC or any other Rip off store, than you need to be slapped.

I REFUSE to shop at GNC. Lack of knowledge (i'm fairly new to the supplement scene so i like to ask questions and do not believe i should have to do all of my own research, especially when shopping at a store that "specializes") that they possess is one reason combined with pushy sales is another.I do not believe i should have to pay for GNC's franchise costs via their product mark-ups either.
The ridiculous pricing is the nail in the coffin for me. Even with their Gold Card pricing, they are still $20-30 over what i can get products i use for from the mom and pop store in the same mall and the mom and pop store give me free shakers,T-shirts and samples all the time. They will even special order anything i want if they do not have it on the shelf or do not carry it as part of their regular line-up.Got caught in a traffic jam heading up there and they were closing up (literally, doors were shut) and i just had to have what i was going there for and they gleefully obliged. They have my business for life. This is how you treat a customer!

I only walk through my local GNC to see what's on the clearance rack. You occasionally get something really good, really cheap.
But now here's a story. I don't think it's GNC, I think it's everyone who works in a mall. The Mrs. and I went Christmas shopping weekend before last. I went into three stores, sporting goods, men's clothing, and Vitamin World. I could have worked at any of the three and been more knowledgable than the people working there. In fact, customers asked me questions about products in two stores, because I was wearing a tie. And I was able to help them.

Haha, that's why I go to this store called Edge Nutrition, the guys that work there know just about everything to do with supplements. Luckily I have one in my city or I'd have to go to GNC or just have to order everything off bb.com and wait like 3 weeks to get it in !

I have also stopped shopping at GNC after today. It seems like all they do is knock other products and all they wat you to do is buy their store brand overpriced products. They said Animal Stack is garbage, I have read lots of review about animal stack and heard tons of good things.
Also I bought this Amp 189 Creatine that they sell with the GNC label and it sucked! It was my first creatine product but I got no results. When I returned it they said they couldn't beleive that I didn't get anything from it. After my return I felt that maybe I wasn't taking a good enough protein shake or I was doing something wrong. So I called another GNC and told them I had some Amp 189 to return just to see what they said. The guy said I can't accept the return without a receipt because I haven't sold a bottle in 3 months so you must have bought it a while ago. LOL if this stuff is so great the Why is their own employee knocking it?
My GNC Conclusion: THEY ARE ONLY ANOTHER MARKETING FIRM TRYING TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF THEIR SELF TITLED PRODUCTS WHETHER IT WORKS OR NOT!! THEY ARE NOT THERE TO HELP YOU, BUT THERE TO HELP THEIR POCKETS JUST LIKE MOST OTHER PEOPLE WORKING IN A RETAIL STORE! THEY PROBABLY GET COMISSION TOO!!
