Bloating... gas....just me? Thoughts?
We all know how much the medical profession poo-poos our diets and the supplements we take, so before I went to my MD and filed a formal "concern", I thought I'd get some real-world feedback first.
Been lactose sensitive/intolerant since high school, during that time was drinking gallons of milk to help bulk up and then in 1st yr of college started getting massive cramps, gas, bloating, loose BMs, etc. It took me awhile to put two and two together but finally cut the milk out and problems were (for the most part solved).
Fourteen years later I still avoid milk products except once in a while but still experience periodic bouts with cramps, bloating, gas etc. I used to use METRx a couple times a day, creatine, whey protein and a multi. I think the METRx causes some digestive issues for me, so I'll not use it for long periods at a time. Anyone else have problems with METRX?
Also, I have always drank EggBeaters out of the carton as part of my 1st meal of the day. Wasn't having any problems with that until a couple weeks ago started getting all-day-long cramps, bloating, and some FOUL gas. I cut the egg beaters out, and seems to have helped with the FOUL part of the equation, but I'm still bloated and gassy. FYI, here's a typical daily diet (i'm 185, and fluctuate between 10% and 15% BF):
M1: 4 eggbeaters, 8oz OJ, 80-100 grams oatmeal (about 6:30am)
M2: large everything bagel, plain; 1 cup pinapple, 1.5 scoops Optim.Nutr.whey protein. (about 9:30am)
M3: couple sandwiches (wheat or oat bread), about 6-8oz turkey or chicken, lettuce, water (about 12:30pm)
M4: 1 cup stoneyfield plain yogurt (or something else around 40-50 gms carbs), 1-2 scoops whey prot. (about 3:30pm)
M5: (postworkout) 2 scoops of whey protein and a couple bananas or other fruit, or a MEtrx mixed with about 12 oz OJ (been avoiding the Metrx lately though)(~5pm)
M6: about 5-8 oz chicken/steak/gr.lean beef, with a combination of veggies (greens and starches) shooting for about 80-100 gms carbs.(~7pm)
M7: 1-2 scoops whey protein.
Really, besides cutting out the whey protein, which a doctor would most likely tell me to do (and which I'm unlikely to do), any thoughts? Or am I not the only one who deals with this gas? LOL

I get this really badly too. For me, I think all of the protein is the culprit, hard for the body to digest. I also eat a ton of eggbeaters which probably don't help the cause.
I don't want to change how I eat either. I do have to say that over time it's gotten a little better. I take acidopholous supplements and take gas ex on days it's bad and kind of deal with it. At least lately the gas is mostly while I sleep at night, and I'm single now so that's fine with me.

You might have IBS.
Try having less protein shakes (1 serving either pre/post workout) and more protein-based food sources. Finding the culprit is different for everyone but trying eliminating lactose products. After that maybe try starchy vegetables (corn, potato).
I see your taking yoghurt which is good source of probiotics, as well as getting enough fibre.
Maybe try some peppermint tea (twice a day) to ease the bloating and aid digestion.
Other then that keep a food log and try to isolate the culprit(s), although it can take 24-48 hours for issues to appear.

I personally have had a mild allergy to a couple multi's, as I recall there is a costco pack (Kirkland rings a bell) that didn't settle with me well.
If that is not it, trial and error are the ticket. Remove everything new and suspect for a couple of days and re-add individually (and wait a couple days), repeat until you find what bothers you.
And if you're lactose intolerant the yogurt probably doesn't help, no?

Some lactose intolerant can digest yoghurt, its due to the refining process and adding of lactase (which aids lactose digestion).
Other then that try Soy Yoghurt.
