Props for making the decision that you did. As you can see by the bazillion posts after your announcment that we are all proud of you and behind you in whatever path you choose. Thats what friends do! Well, cyber friends anyway.
Bottom line is that we all love you...not because you compete, but because you are you.

How did I miss that last night? IMO you should go on a slow bulk and add some mass to your frame, there are areas on your body that lacked in the contest next to your competiion, getting a litter thicker and then leaning down in plenty of time would be the best route IMO
Good luck Jaime, WISE DECEISION

My day and replies.
Evening everyone!
Didn't have much on the docket today...
Grocery shopping, LOTS of reading (kinesiology stuff for fun, not school), chatting with friends, and of course, a SOLID hiit session (thankfully, Court joined me at the end for LISS, so that was fun - we'll be working out tomorrow).
This afternoon, I had a mini panic attack and started to stress about Florida. The eating, the workouts...how I would maintain my condition...luckily, I was reading through Tom Venuto's blog, and he pretty much quelled my fears and anxiety. I'll post a little from what he wrote:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
For most of my adult life, I wasn?t much of a traveller. I had a belief that if I traveled, my workouts and nutrition would suffer. After all, ?it would be hard to stick with my usual bodybuilding diet, and I wouldn?t have access to my usual gyms.?
Then I was forced to take some trips for business reasons. Predictably enough, my nutrition and workouts suffered while I was spending time in airplanes and in hotels. With my experience having confirmed my beliefs, I re-affirmed to myself, ?See, travelling is nothing but a pain. You just can?t stay on a diet and training program when you?re out of town.? After several more trips, I noticed that something very negative happened: I surrendered. I had resigned myself to ?not bother? while I was on the road. I let my expectations create my reality.
But I didn?t let it go on for long. As soon as I became aware of what was happening, I decided that I wouldn?t tolerate it, so I challenged myself and my previous limiting beliefs. I asked myself, ?Why the heck not? Why let myself backslide? Why even settle for maintaining? Why not challenge myself to improve while I?m traveling?? The answer: There was no reason, there were only excuses.
From that day forward, I set a challenge for myself: To come back from every trip or vacation in better shape than when I left. Of course there were exceptions, as when I went on a vacation for total R & R. But I never let travel get in my way again? I prepared food that I would eat on the planes so airline food was never an excuse? I only chose hotels that had kitchens, so I could cook my own food? I went food shopping immediately after check-in?
And I actually found myself training harder than usual!
No matter where I was training - it could even be some ?dungeon? of a gym in the middle of nowhere - it didn?t matter because my mind was focused on improving and looking better when I came home than when I left. I had a goal!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, I'm pretty sure I'll be OK away from home...I have a goal!
The Workout:
5 min warm up on Arc Trainer
8 intervals (15 work @ Level 50: 45 rest @ Level 30)
30 min LISS
8 intervals (same as before)
10 min LISS
Tonight, I'm just going to sit back, relax, browse the forums, and watch the second last episode of the Biggest Loser!!!

Thanks Jess...I'm definitely about the "one day at a time" and short term goals. I've reevaluated my approach to competing, and it's helped.

Cyber friends? Uh...I don't think so Jimmy. The support, encouragement and motivation I get from you guys is ABOVE and BEYOND what I get from a lot of my "real" friends...so I definitely consider all of you right up there in my books!
I just put that line in my motivation book. I couldn't be more grateful for you if I tried.

Umm...no more mass for the next little while hun. I want to see what I look like in pefect contest condition first. See what I look like at 6-8%...THEN, I'll lean bulk.
Thanks babe!

To each their own, dieiting down just to see how you look and then add why not just do it now and then diet down come next time you will step on stage. Given 20-22 weeks you will be in the shape of your life regardless, You are already crusing on your new workout's just step it up a notch with a little extra fuel
Do itt PM me back if you get a chance with this if you dont want to type it out. I would just like to know your side of it.

I am sure that was probably a hard decision for you Jaime. But go with your gut. If its for anyone BUT you, its really not worth it. And you haven't let anyone down here, Jaime! You are one of the hardest working people on here! You could never let us down.

IMO it would be very beneficial to diet down a little more. You can be in good condition, but still look completely different when dropping a few BF % points. Assess from there and then base your routine on that. For example, you can hold a fat in your lower back that sticks around until a week or two before a contest. After dropping that, you may realize that your lower back is under developed and dedicate a little more training toward that.

Nice travel plan, Jaime. You're right...making excuses while traveling is just so easy...with a little pre-planning and the right attitude, you'll be fine.

I shall pummel you with 10 lb Scivation Whey boxes at the Arnold!
Right now, Jaime and my plan is to have her lean out until she gets to where she wants to be. At that point we will start adding some calories back and have her start gaining LEAN muscle.
You are doing the right thing Jaime because you are doing what YOU want to do and not letting other influence your decision.

Jaime-
I have to say that (IMO) you made by far the ABSOLUTE BEST decision for yourself. And you be be a MUCH happier person because of it. I have to thank you for the example you are setting as you have also opened my eyes to some of what I am going thru currently as well. I don't think I could put into words how grateful I am to you right now. I'm so very happy for you and excited to see the path you are leading as well!
Also, thank you so much for the "travel" blog info by Tom Venuto. He has always been a mentor for me, but I haven't read much of his blogs, etc in a few months.

Great post on traveling, that's a great attitude towards it. I'm on the go so much that I struggle with that a lot.

Hey Jaime! Excellent post on travelling! I've been uber-concerned about how I'll fair with workouts / nutrition on some upcoming travel and this is exactly what I needed to read!

Wisest Decision Ever
Wow, I miss a couple days from here and I fall waaaay behind. I'm cought up now.
Jaime, I give you my highest regard for the decision you've made regarding your next competition. As Bill put it, you're a celebrity around here! We all love and look up to you so much, and that popularity in itself can be quite stressful, I imagine. I'd hate for something positive, such as a team's support, to turn something you love into something you loathe. I know this wasn't an easy decision for you (or perhaps just telling us and Derek about it was the hard part), because you're such a giving person. Nevertheless, doing what is right for you is the only way to go. Your proclamation has only deepened my respect for you as a positive role model. Can't wait for The Arnold!
EDIT: P.S. What was that nonesense about letting people down? Girl, you crazy! You went through h*** and back again to get up on that stage. Nothing but respect there. Silly girl... you're so hard on yourself.

Wow, I think we have the same exact goals. I want to get down to 6-8% to see where I am and what needs the most work. I know I need overall improvement but we all have something that we really need to focus on and bring up. Love the goals!
