I look at it this way...
I'd rather be a gym bitch than gym gimp any day!
If I'm training someone, they had better be able to put away what they grab.
If they can't return it, they never should have picked it up to start with!
Period.
Stand your ground. Hell, growl at them a little when you walk by, just to keep them on their toes!
*sneer...

They left their 40 and 45 lb weights and the ball right on the floor when they were done. I went across the gym and asked her if she was done. Today I did the same thing to this trainer, I went across the gym to find her, I told her privately to have them clean up their weights.I will be labeled the gym bitch.I guess I was already that but just made it worse. I just think if someone is going to to train people in the gym they should teach them about proper gym manners like cleaning up their freak 'n mess, not to wear flip flops and learn how to spot your partner.
I just cant hold it in anymore.

Find the gym manager or supervisor confronting the trainers themselves won't get you anywhere, you pay to go there don't waist your time go right to the top.

I agree with gbg. I would go to management too. If you still don't feel like your getting the results your want, go even further.
It's nice to see that so many people feel the same way about this issue. Some people are selfish, and that's life! That's why there are people like
Pitmommy. lol

I wouldn't label you a b**ch, but just one of the few with enough backbone to call the trainers on this etiquette faux-pas. I recently watched as trainers cast out their array of equipment: steps, balls, cones, straps, bands...and leave them. Then another gym customer stumbled over them. Nice. This behavior by the trainers also explains where users get the misconception that it's okay to leave their equipment for others to clean up.
Asking the trainers / management to make sure everyone cleans up after themselves just makes the whole gym experience better for everyone.

Wow, this was one of my favorite threads from June of last year. I love nostalgia.

Well, Pitmommy hasn't posted since Sept. of 07'. Perhaps she'll show up on the 1 year absence mark, which is only 2mths away .

I've since joined a gym, and while it's great, I am noticing some of the problems mentioned here, such as not racking weights and cleaning up, both on the part of trainers and their clients.

when I first start work out. I start it at home with smith rack on the first floor living room. even though, I am the only person using this equipment. I always un-rack the weight because I am have 5 year son running around in the living room. I don't want the weight on the bar crashing down on him if he messing with the bar when no one is around.
I guess this habit just stay with me when I came to Shanghai. while I am working out with a trainer at the local gym. I was un-rack the weight after we finish the exercise, the train ask me what I was doing. I am reply "to un-rack the weight, why, nobody do this at the gym here?"
now, my trainer will un-rack the weight when ever he work out with me~~~
yea, how do I know if someone finish using the bench or rack if they don't un-rack??
that drives me nuts as well~~~
