That's my girl everybody!!! Atray, your arms look smaller and your back is really shaping out. And by the way, I'm jealous because your shoulders and chest muscles are really pronounced, lol. Not bad for 3 weeks girl...not bad at all!!!
Keep it up! My picture day will be tomorrow....

Hellow & Happy (?) Monday.
We woke up to our 1st inch of snow in West Michigan today. I'm really not ready for this. How many days until May??
My weekend was OK. Got in 30 mins of cardio Saturday, but Friday and Sunday had no workouts. Today is 30 min cardio (done) and some weights in about 1 hour. I am going to change up my workout - instead of working upper then lower on alternating days, I'm going to try multi-body part exercises (I can't think of the right terminology right now). This is something I want to use for my clients.
Hubby took pics this am, I will get them posted ASAP. I have a PartyLite open house tonight so it will be tight or late tonite.
I was a bit down Saturday after taking 6 week measurements. Not to happy. I had higher expectations. I posted this in the over 35 forum and got lots of great feedback. Too many carbs! And I've been at this fitness game from 7 years! Tracking macros at fitday is going to take a lot of time. But I have to think - am I worth it? It's about health! (which I'm hoping to use as my biz name! Watcha think?) My clothes do seem a bit looser and getting some def in my upper arms and thighs. Tummy smaller? A bit.
Until next time..
Monica

pics are up
I posted my progress pics today and I am happy with my results thus far. I have only lost a half a pound or maybe even A pound but I feel good about that.
I have noticed that some of you don't want to show your pics or are upset with your progress. If you are sticking to the challenge then you should be proud of yourself for that. If you are not following the rules and are not satisfied with your results then lets kick it up a notch
I know how frustrating it is to give it your all and be at a standstill. BUT don't let it get you down. Have you ever noticed how you can't see anything good when one thing goes wrong? You start to think everything is "out to get me" and/or "maybe I can't do anything right...I should just give up". Maybe you are upset that your pics didn't show that much of a change or your stats haven't changed that much since you started. That may make you think that you should cheat or even quit. That will make you gain and possibly make you start back at square one. Please don't do that to yourself. Recognize that you have accomplished a lot since you first started. Be proud of that. Use that positive thinking to do MORE positive things. The next time we post progress pics you can look different! You can see your numbers go down! You can reach your goals; you just can't lose sight of why you started the challenge and why you wanted to change yourself.
YOU CAN DO THIS (but only if YOU THINK YOU CAN)-

Pics are up on profile, and FINALLY GOT TO LIFT!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey everyone, I put my pics up last night. I really didn't change much at all. I guess I should be pleased with maintenance since I was sick, not working out and eating higher calories to keep my immune system stoked. So 2 weeks of inactivity and maintenance calories just left me a little flatter. I will get my pump back after tomorrows workout. I had a good workout on Saturday just after I did my pictures and was fine. As a matter of fact I am sore as all get out and it has been a while so that is kind of nice. I am excited to be back in it and expect to see some real changes on my next progress photos.

i broke my arm skating so i'm not sure if i will continue w the challenge
i cant workout or play derby..but i will continue a basic regimen to maintain the tone i have by walking 1-2 miles every day or every other day, and when i get a little better will continue working legs by doing a basic leg work out. I've been taking some heavy dose pills, and so far the only way i can stay awake is by drinking pepsi.. and i've consumed a ton of chocolate chip cookies as well.. to make me feel better
i will use this time to study for my ACE test so that i can get certified as a personal trainer, hopefully i can be ready to test in January!!. I will continue to check everyones progress and i wish everyone good luck!!

Well... technically I messed my hamstring up and then my meniscus this year. I didn't workout for about six weeks each time. I ate A LOT of **** during this time. For the first few weeks (each time) my weight stayed the same and my clothes fit like they normally do. Then, BOOM!! I'd weigh 5 pound heavier and bust outta my pants. I am actually doing this challenge to lose the 5 I gained the last time and regain my muscle tone. I hope you do NOT do the same thing I did and gain.
Try to get off those painkillers as quickly as possible so you can stay awake. Put those cookies down. In fact maybe you can literally RUN away from them (I don't know if this is possible or not due to your injury). Focus on foods that will make you feel better physically NOT emotionally!
Maybe you can start your own contest- "Don't gain while I'm injured". IF YOU STILL EAT CLEAN AND TRAIN YOUR LEGS HARD. You might want to lower your carbs if you are not going to be very active. You might surprise yourself and be able to see your abs after all.
Good luck!

Bummer about the arm. My hubby's in a pit to wrist cast this week for tumbling off the bottom rung of a ladder and landing on his right elbow. Not much you can do when you're a carpenter with your dominate arm immobile!
I have a great website for you o check out for your ACE exam. It helped me a bunch. http://www.albemarle.org/department....e&relpage=7230 Gotta love firefighters! Have you bought the ACE on-line practice tests? I found them helpful b/c I got an idea as to what the test will be like. Good Luck! And step away from the cookies!

Clean on Thanksgiving???
Is it just me or is anyone else thinking of how to eat clean on Thanksgiving?
I think the only thing I'll eat that the rest of the family is eating will be turkey. I'll be quite happy with that and a baked sweet potato and some green beans.

Thanksgiving Workout
I actually got excited when I found out the gym will be open Thanksgiving Day! Whereas most people will be there to "justify" gorging on stuffing, pies, and cakes, I will be there because I will be in the home stretch of the challenge with 27 days to go!

Hello all! I am very happy with my progress so far this week. My workouts and eating have pretty much been on point. My pants are fitting like they should and things just look really positive.
I told my hubby to remind me how good I have been doing at the end of the week so I do not get discouraged if my stats are not as good as I think they should be because I know that it may take some time for all the good I'm doing to really show.
I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Roses, sorry to hear you broke your arm and you are in pain. However the pain is temporary and if you continue to eat right you will able to ride a stationary bike or walk the treadmill in less than a week. Do HIIT training on the recumbant bike. The only reason I am telling youthis is because the leanest I have ever been was after my shoulder surgery when Icouldn't touch a weight. I did cardio on the stationary bike and on the high hill setting on the treadmill all WHILE WEARING AN IMMOBILIZER. You can continue your journey into unwrapping your abs no doubt. This is just one thorn on the rose don't let it take away from the full bloom.

Alright people it's FRIDAY- MrKleen73's Fridays Challenge!!!!
So get your discipline hats on for the weekend. I plan to add an extra 30 minutes of activity to this weekend just as a push to make myself eat better too. I always eat cleaner when I am pushing physically. Something about that hard work reminds me not to eat poorly. Anyway lets all stick to our guns this weekend. For those of you who don't plan to work out this weekend are you planning any type of "active rest" or just sitting on the couch chilling in rebuild mode?
Atrey thanks for getting this thing started. You are our motivator now. You have to keep it on lock. We are looking to you as an example Oh glorious leader! ;o) I was thinking we should throw a weekend challenge each weekend to help us stick to our guns over the weekend. Below is what I am going to do. What do you think?
Over the course of the weekend I will do 500 Hindu Squats, 500 push ups and 500 crunches. It isn't an overly hard task but will take some work and dedication to do them. If anyone would like to join me just as an added push they are more than welcome.
Also, If I do not complete these I will do something to completely mortify myself here on Monday. AND I will be totally honest here about if I do complete it or not.
If anyone wants to try to complete the same thing join me. Hindu Squats are the best squats for your knees they are body weight only exercises you go ass to ankles but come up on the balls of your feet at the bottom of the movement. It takes the stress off of the knee and is really good for them and will tone up your legs and glutes big time. I can put an example of them on my video if anyone is interested. If you don't think you can do 500 go for 250. It is spread out over the course of the weekend.

Just an update on my weekend challenge.
So far I have these numbers up towardss 500 of each. Still lots of work to do!
Pushups 75
Hindu Squats 150
Crunches 200
All after regular workout.
Workout and everything else felt great today. Have eaten clean all day.
