Hey guys just started and found this forum inspiring. wow, this is exactly what I am trying to achieve. What was your diet like? workouts? I started at 202 and I'm down to 196 in 3 days(Monday 5lbs,Tuesday 1 lb, Wed 1 lb)does anyone think this is too fast? I do 40 minutes of medium intensity cardio a day, not too fast but I am struggling for breath and strength at the end. Started lifting about 3 years ago and have lost about 35lbs and gained some muscle but I have never really lost the fat(poor diet) changed my diet to a high fiber, hight protein diet, drinking 1 1/2 gallons of water a day taking multi-vitamins, with a total of about 1500-1600 calories a day broken into 5 meals(and strangely I am not hungry at all). I am trying to combine everything I have read about nutritional weight loss and hit it hard, but everything I read is saying I should only lose about 2-3 lbs a week. Is this normal for the first week? Should I eat more calories?Thought I would ask someone who WAS fat like me, thanks.

I started my transformation in summer of '06 at 16 years old, 6'2", 257 pounds. After puttering around for a while, I started losing weight. I would lose a few, plateau, lose a few, plateau, and continue that cycle. Unfortunately, because I put on such an intense amount of weight (more than 35 pounds a year at some points) so quickly, I'm covered in stretch marks and have some loose skin. I'm leaner than I seem in the photos because of my loose skin, but it's something I have to deal with. Overall, I'm still pretty happy. My current weight is 182, at 18 years old.

Weight
Im 5'10" and sitting at 196, I have some stretch marks from my heavier days but no flappy skin. I am just wondering if Im losing weight too quickly and I need to change something? I'm drinking alot of water and noticing its hard to take in enough calories. For the first time in my life I'm having to force myself to eat!LOL. But seriously, does anyone thing I should change this up or keep going?

Great ... A few years ago I also transformed from fat to fit .
I think this is very hard but if you really want to do it .. it?s possible .. and it?s worth it.
I admire this results.. great.. really great .
I?m now fitness trainer since 2 years and there are so many people who don?t reach their goals ..

Randomly found this site from another forum I participate in (mountain bike related). Very inspiring everyone. I look forward to getting back into it after months of rehabbing a broken/dislocated shoulder. This is one thread I'll be bookmarking for sure.

This thread is just awesome, gives me great inspiration before going to the gym. I started training 2 months ago. Pics are dated Sep 1st to Nov 13th 2008 and i've lost 12 lbs. Not a major change but I plan on training the rest of my life.

This is such an amazing thread! I've never been obese, just overweight. I've been exercising since high school, but I'm still overweight. But if you all can lose weight and see great results, I'm sure I can too. *thumbs up*
I'd rep you, but I'm still too new here.

Around April 2008

I'm trying to cut now. I do HIIT every other morning and eat a good amount of protein and not a lot of carbs. Anyone else have any tips on cutting? Thanks.

hey there. I'm in the same boat as you. I got lazy...now I'm back in the gym.
Yes, you MUST eat alot of protein if you're to maintain or even build new muscle as you burn fat. Figure 1.5-2 gms per lb of LEAN MASS. Proper nutrition is PARAMOUNT. All your hard work in the gym is wasted if your diet isn't on point. Trust me, I know. I can work out like a mad man but if I don't eat right, I look like absolute crap. I eat 6-7 smaller meals a day. For right now, I've totally cut out "junk". The worst thing I eat right now is a mini-box of raisins with my oatmeal. Hey, what can I say... I need the fiber lol.
Some people recommend a cheat meal once a week or even a cheat day. I think it's a great idea to do so, but not in the early stages of cutting/dieting. After 4-6 weeks of dieting, your body is in the proper state where a cheat meal/day won't have much effect on you. If you cheat too early, you sabotage yourself.

I went from 330 in april of 06 to 204 in june or july of this year most of the weight came off in the first 4 months then for a year I stayed at 230-220, 210 was the lowest I had been till june or july of this year till I started my new job and I was 204. I feel like a different person.
