why so expensive? and another question
can someone tell me why the NASM cert cost $600.....that seems like an awfull lot compared to some other ones. Im going to get certified in the next month or so, so i was just wondering. Also NASM said i needed to get CPR/AED certified, do the other certifications require this or not?

It may be more than most, but IMHO, it is better than most. A lot of gyms standardize on it. If you are planning to work in a gym, you should find out what certs the gyms in your area require before making your final decision.

Not all certifications require you to present your card at test time, but all certifications state you need your CPR/AED certification before training clients. In addition, if you are going to work as an independent, you are going to need liability insurance.

It's typically around $200. IDEA sells theirs for $172/year for certified trainers and $232/year for non-certified. The place I got my insurance through (the name escapes me at the moment) was $175/year.
Edit: I found my insurance policy. It is through Sport & Fitness Insurance Corporation

600 is hardly a lot of money. It's about the cost of taking a class in college.

check what they are looking for at the gym or gyms in your area first, but seriously if you want to be a good trainer you need to do your homework, 600 is hardly a lot for the return. whats the use having a piece of **** cert, you wont learn from it you will just pass a test. clints care and they wont be fooled for long
