Egg White Powder
So . . . I am looking into purchasing a container of Egg White Powder. I know they are good for shakes and 'pancakes' . . .
But does anybody else know of any other good use for them or any good recipes? I still need some convincing.

I was looking at them the other day and weighing it too...
I could see some benefits..using them in shakes would be great...long shelf life..no messy separating..no wasting egg yolks...easy to measure and use in recipes..I'm convincing myself now! lol

I looked at them over the weekend but went for Whey instead. When I got home I did some on line research and found out that they're easier on the stomach if you have issues with lactose or whey (which I sometimes do). I'm going to finish up what I bought and try the egg whites next time.

If I am not mistaken (and it is possible) but don't the Aussies use the egg white powder b/c they don't have the liquid??
I could have sworn I read that in here somewhere - just don't know where??
Maybe they would have some good ideas?

I use Jay Robb and Healthy n Fit's egg white protein mix for shakes, but I haven't cooked with it. I tolerate these better than whey protein - even the isolates.
I've been considering ordering the liquid egg whites for cooking purposes:

yea Val I use it for pancakes, and crepes, which I have almost everyday, but I also make eggwhite omlettes with it as well.....and my oatbran bread/pizza crust.....
I never use it as a replacement for whey though!
I have ordered the the Rose Acres Farm brand from bb.com but now I get a local kiwi brand called Eggcell - pretty much the same.

Off the top of my head:
Orange Julius (original recipe used eggs with milk and oj).
Egg nog (tis the season)
Merengue(sp?) for a healthy pumpkin pie, possibly, or a sweet potato topping? Can you make it with stevia or splenda?

I don't care for the taste of egg white powders. If you want to add egg whites to a shake and don't want to use actual eggs, I suggest Egg Whites International.

I use egg white powder in my recipes instead of egg whites and instead of whole eggs too.
I use 3/4 teaspoon of egg white powder with 2 tablespoons of water for 1 egg white. For whole eggs, use 2 egg whites (i.e. 1.5 teaspoons of egg white powder and 4 tablespoons of water).
I don't use them in shakes as I don't like the taste. For recipes I would 100% recommend it.
