well, I'm here in America and they are s@#$ bud. And so what if he isn't from this country, if you want to be well educated and smart you study more than what is right in front of you. That is why we have topics like "World History" "Global Economics" "Foreign Policy" and good old Government.
Until things change this nation is not the greatest, not at its full potential. We rank lower on education and health care than other nations that spend less then we do. The republican party has shifted to the left for the most part during Bushes term and they need to find themselves and what they stood for.

|
Wrong. Change means just that....change. If there is one thing I was completely sick of this election, it was the campaign with the change slogan because change does not mean progress unless it actually brings forth progress that is of some value. If you go as far back as say Reagan, you will notice many speeches with facts, statistics, and actual substance to their arguments. How has our political process degenerated to people like McCain and Obama?
McCain: I can win wars!
.....who cares?
Obama: I'm going to bring about change!
...what the hell does that even mean?!?
We have over 10 trillion dollars in federal debt, a liability of 75 trillion dollars in promises in SS and Medicare for the next 20 to 30 years. We had individuals who leveraged their spending with inflated home equity for the purposes of purchasing something they couldn't afford. Now people want to socialize their losses when they had no problem at all gouging next generation home buyers such as myself for two to 3 times the value of their home? Real wages grew at about 3% per year and home prices by about 10% per year with a massive increase in supply through construction. Does that not sound off any alarms? This housing bubble was seen a mile away by many, and many of my upper level Econ professors were talking about this 4 years ago.
So now that our bloated economy that depended on overvalued housing prices to fuel their credit crazy purchases, we are going to "stimulate" the economy by handing people checks to bring the spending back up to its housing bubble levels? We are going to keep people in their homes and try to raise the value when young people cannot even come close to affording those ridiculous prices? We are going to repeat the same crap that got us in this mess? Are you kidding me?
Neither McCain or Obama stood for real change in their campaigns, just more of the same old government crap of socialize those who fail and run up a big debt for someone like me to pay well into probably my 90's if I live that long. I'm 24. I've been out of college for a year and with a middle class income I was able to buy a new car, pay my rent, pay for food, and I've saved about $12,000 that has all went into fairly high APY/Dividend CD's. You see I do this thing called lived within my means. Something that the rest of America has no desire to do.
In my opinion we needed a socially moderate/liberal to combat the bigotry that has been developed in the Republican party, as well as a fiscal conservative unlike the current flock of Democrats and Republicans. No, Obama is not a fiscal conservative. I can only hope that one day someone like Bob Barr or Ron Paul could take office. If you've ever heard Paul speak you would realize that not only does he tell you the truth, he actually backs it up with history, statistics, and facts. None of this "change" and "hope" bs that satisfies only those with the most superficial logic and reasoning.

No one knows how Obama is going to do in his first four years in office, not even him. I did not vote for Obama and never will vote for someone with his views/beliefs. But it is now time for our country to support him and not predict his definate failure.

I am simply stunned that when reporters went into Harlem to ask ppl why they were voting for Obama, they didnt even know who his running mate was...they were ONLY voting for him bc he is black.
The fact that his policies (past, present, and promised) were not even a consideration in who they were voting for is a direct indication that this country is headed in the WRONG direction.

i think it balances out for all the people who didnt vote for obama because he was black or thought he was a secret muslim or a terrorist ally.
but for the vast majority of the rest of us who did vote as a result of policy comparison, it became pretty apparent who was the better person for the job.

Welcome to democracy!
What, did you think that elections were normally decided by intelligent people who sat down and weighed policy considerations before making an informed choice at the ballot?
How long you been voting for?
People choose their candidates based on race, gender, class, celebrity endorsement, susceptibility to advertising, party loyalty, seemingly irrelevant single-issues, personal loyalties, private prejudices, nonsensical and poorly understood ideological standpoints, god knows what else.
Then we all just have faith that somehow 100 million poorly made decisions will add up to one well made decision.
It's the democratic ideal!

This country is definitely heading in a different direction...
Iran and China were celebrating in the streets when Obama won... I don't know what to make of that.
Democracy is on the brink of falling in america. When citizens vote for income redistribution; we are on the brink of socialism. Our presidential elect has played the rich vs. poor card all through the election.... portraying the rich as evil and the poor as helpless. The fact is; the rich have done more for the poor than government ever has or will. Larger government; more taxes; more regulations; and LESS freedom to do what we want with the money WE earn. Top that off with supporting the killing of helpless infants... is this really progression??
I am not a Republican or a Democrat; but the housing market trouble started during Clinton's term with ACORN, and demanding banks to give loans to those who had no business having large mortgages. Bush is also to blame by not doing anything about it.
It is very disturbing our Presidential elect supports this:

i feel repulsed just having to read this. so you don't like Obama because he believes that all people are equal as humans and that it is ok to be gay, have an abortion and freely choose your own religous beliefs and/or disbeliefs???
yea that's totally corrupt. humans shouldn't have rights unless they are God-fearing Christians. what gives a human being the right to decide their own decisions???

OMG Ignorance so sad I dont see how some of you look at yourselves in the mirror
Its not Obama its not McCain its the ignorant and obviously unedcated people who live in this country taking cheap shots at these men..... Why would anyone wish death on someone just because you dont agree with his point of view? Some of you people are animals heartless and not human. You all will have to answer to someone and it will not be Obama or McCain for how you treat one another. So sad.
America is the way it is for one reason we are a nation of people who hate one another for stupid reason we are only looking to take each other down. I dont how you call yourselves human beings call yourselves animals because animals act more civil than some of you brainless people.
Put the weights down and pick up a book and open your minds to a more diverse America it has changed for the better and if you dont Mr Obama as president you are free to move to another country. One thing about living here you can go as you please LOOOSERS

Yea were all screwd, and even more devide now that our Pres elect is black. As you can see buy proof that ever black person on this thread had lashed out agaisnt people for just stating facts and there opinions like its wrong or something. dont get me wrong our first black president is realy good and a Historic event but other than that Obama realy is jsut a puppet. If you think ANYone could get that high without being involved with the global banksters. You are missinformed and uneducated in these matters and you have your head in the sand. That is a fact as well. Go do some reaserch TV heads. Peace.

I think, regardless of race this election taught us that WE CAN make a difference. The government is not some far-off entity, it SHOULD, in a democrarcy atleast represent the voices of the vast majority of people. The problem with the Bush administration was not 1) that he was white 2) that he was a republican..it was that he had somehow forgot to listen to the people. If we scream, if we protest, if we vote and make ourselves heard...this presidency can be the BEST and American can be ressurected here, and abroad. Whatever your race, ethnicity, religion or class...you would WANT Obama to succeed, America is on LIFE SUPPORT folks...don't be part of the problem...if you're a true good ol' boy... a true patriot..be part of the solution that helps restore the nation!
That being said...I'm proud as HELL that he's BLACK like me! And all of the haters can keep doing that...it just lets me know we're making progress.
Lots of love
