Socialism as a Movement wasn't even founded when the USA came into light. Socialism as a Movement began in 1830's, the Word didn't even exist till 1832. (socialisme (French).)

Furthermore, the Co-Operative Movement, which is the basis of all True Socialism is something the Founding Fathers believed in.

Interestingly it's not a matter of the soldiers refusing, in fact they're rather upset at being kept on the shelf so much (as I understand it), the government wants the kudos from america for working with them and the image in their own country of being tough on terror without having to risk any casualties, so they refuse to ever risk their troops.

I think you watch too much Fox news or Oriely Factor. Canada with high taxes and social programs is still one of the best perfomers amongst OECT countries. You can only use fear tactics.
