question about getting gear in the PI
I will be visiting the PI in January. I'll be staying in Makati. Just wondering how available gear (AAS) is in the PI? If I find some I want to balikbayan box it back home to California. Inbox me if necessary. Thanks.

Right. It really sucks. I though that the constant feeling of tiredness is maybe because i have low immune system... well the doc said, it's because of the manifestation of the allergy.

Hi Dave, welcome to the Filipino thread! It's "Sige" and it is used if you're confirming something like equivalent to "Yes".

- Mga kababayan!!! -
hey guys! ive been snoopin' here for a while now reading the thread and i finally decided to register. I've been working out for a few years now but unfortunately, the results haven't been very big. working out on and off due to conflicts with my work schedule didnt do a lot. i really want to prove to myself that being an ectomorph, i could have success with bodybuilding like you guys have. im planning to start from scratch and hopefully this time ill get better results. i'm thinking of buying whey protein and so far, i still haven't decided which brand i should buy. Designer whey or ON whey? which one of the two would be better for me? thanks guys! and if you have any suggestions, i would really appreciate it! thanks!!!

hey, welcome bro! I know the feeling. you know, if you're really determined to do something, nothing can stop you from doing it, right? all you need to do is to manage your time, stick to it, & get used to it. I assume you have a regular work time? that would be 9 hrs. if you can give us details, we can help you better. like what's your traveling time? you know any gym near your workplace/home? how many times do you think you can train per week?
w/ regards to protein, either is ok. but for cheaper, better taste, ON wins IMO.

thanks for the reply guys! i really appreciate it! i forgot to mention that i've already started working out. i work at BPO company which requires me to work graveyard (im a midnight owl so i dont mind.. hehe..) i've been working out@ golds gym in glorietta for about 4 months now. progress has been slow but somehow i think i got some of my weight and some muscles back (from what people around me are saying) (before i started working out again, my weight was around 132 - 138) weight around this time is 140 - 146 (i typed in 138 because my weight dropped down since i've been sick for a few days now and if you see me, you probably wont even think im 140+ hehe..) before i used to do split routines, i usually go to the gym about 3 - 4 times a week. but i was told by one of the instructors (from orientation) that at my body type, it would be best if i do whole body workout. so right now i do chest, back, shoulders, back, biceps and triceps in around 2-3 hours at the gym. it feels good after workout getting everything pumped up but after a few days i still don't think that im hitting the right muscle parts at the right time...
so here's some questions that i would like to ask you guys...
1) what would be the best routine/exercises that i should do to gain muscle in about 3-4 months give or take? )
2) what supplements would you suggest that i should use?
3) should i lift heavy? or lift with more reps? ( i usually do 12 reps 3 sets ) for DB bench press, i can only lift around 40 lbs each 45 at a good day - im a weakling, i know..
4) how long is it going to take me to get those massive arms and backs that you guys have?
5) am i making sense? hehehe...
6) is it just right to steer away from sauna / steam rooms? (everyone must have experienced some spine tingling/bone chilling/scary moment. right?)
well that's about it. i'm thinking of buying ON next week since you guys suggested it and by the way, one of my friends suggested that i should take amino acids too together with whey, should i?
and oh... does the chocolate flavor taste good?
thanks guys!!! keep it up!!!
(i work 9 hours a day btw..)

I had the same job as yours but only for less than 3 months. yes it's 9 hours. my schedule was 3am-12nn. I get up at 1am, as soon as I get off work I go home to get my stuff then go to the gym (just outside our subd). by 3pm I'm done. by 5pm I'm ready for bed (it sucks though, damn hard to sleep on the afternoon). I did it as a routine & got used to it (& I'm not talking about eating at work yet, lol)..
so what I can suggest to you is, find the right time you feel you can train better. before or after work. well you haven't told us yet how many times per week you can train. but lets assume you can train 3x, M-W-F. on those training days, stick to that time of training. just be consistent. you can relax on other days anyway, but try hard to stick to your program on training days. about the workout itself, whole body's no problem. sorry to say this about that instructor, I jsu couldn't resist, but I think he must be smokin crack telling you to train 2-3 hours a session & thinking you'll get results from that. lol. goodluck to him & his clients (don't tell me he didn't include LEGS in your routine? or you just don't do em? hehe). when it comes to training, keep it short & sweet. 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours max. but better if you do it 1 hour (or less). quality is the name of the game bro. now on to your questions..
1. you can try to do split or whole body routines. there are a lot of methods you can use. question is, w/c would you prefer? maybe you can tell us so we can hit you up w/ some programs. but above all, one thing you have to remember, focus more on COMPOUND lifts & free weights (all kinds of bench press, deadlifts, squats, shoulder press, rows) & minimize machine & isolation exercises. you wanna pack on mass? do these.. (one thing, please do legs too. it's a mistake not to, for obvious reasons. LOL)
2. IMO, all the supps that you'll ever need are Whey & Multi's. (maybe EFA's, creatine, but not for now). also, I suggest you focus more on EATING. coz that's what's gonna make you big. no matter how hard you train, if your diet sucks, you won't like the result. if you wanna get big, eat big. I hate to bore you w/ details, but the general guideline would be: eat every 3-4 hours, eat carbs, protein (especially!), fats (you can get through protein sources anyways) source in EVERY meal. like in training, gradually up the calories maybe monthly, or weekly if you can. eat calorie-dense food. drink lots of water.
3. lift HEAVY (relative term). 8-10 reps. pick a weight heavy enough that you can only rep them 8-10. but of course, warm-ups first. & if you just got back to training, go lighter first. yeah 12 reps, 3 sets are good. then after a couple of weeks gradually increase poundages. progression is the key. it's understandable if your a little weak now. but what matters is you try to improve, & give it all that you've got. high reps has it's place, but you need to get stronger by going heavy.
4. uh, like 3-4 years long? LOL. depending on your genetics, & dedication, maybe a lot sooner. sorry if it sounds mean, but I'm just giving you a realistic idea. Time is also a factor you know. I just get a lot of comments from noobs saying "in 6 months, maaabutan na kita". funny. most of them are gone after 2 months. just be consistent. be patient. slow & steady wins the race..
5. yes, you are. it's good that you ask questions..
6. well, not really a fan of sauna baths. afraid I might sit on something undesirable. LOL
regarding amino acids, you can take that too, if you have extra cash. but you definitely don't need that! just eat lots of meat, fish. besides, you have Whey already. & yes, chocolate tastes great!
one more thing, I know this is a bit of an issue for you (maybe?), but make sure you get 8, or at least 7 hours of sleep a day. you grow during rest not in the gym. also in the kitchen & dining table!
if you have more questions, post up. hope this helps!

1. you can try to do split or whole body routines. there are a lot of methods you can use. question is, w/c would you prefer? maybe you can tell us so we can hit you up w/ some programs. but above all, one thing you have to remember, focus more on COMPOUND lifts & free weights (all kinds of bench press, deadlifts, squats, shoulder press, rows) & minimize machine & isolation exercises. you wanna pack on mass?
& yes, chocolate tastes great!
one more thing, I know this is a bit of an issue for you (maybe?), but make sure you get 8, or at least 7 hours of sleep a day. you grow during rest not in the gym. also in the kitchen & dining table!
if you have more questions, post up. hope this helps!

thanks! i could probably work out 3-4 times a week. i usually go to the gym after work. my shift is from 10-7am. as for the leg workout, the trainer did show me some exercises, i was just not doing it regularly. hehehe.. but i guess i'm gonna start including it again on my program. for the routine, i think split would be better, kasi mas masshorten ung workout time and macconcentrate ung parts being worked on tama ba?

ok. yeah you can go to the gym after work. basta sanayin mo lng yung ganun. para di ka stressed. I like your sked nga e. before I wish that was mine as well, kasi I'd like to train at night, in that case before work. I feel mas madaming time pa pag ganun. also, kuha mo lahat yung night diff, hehehe
yup, include legs! that's the lower half of the body. it adds greatly to overall body mass.. IMO, yes split would be better. although whole body's good too. you just have to do 1-2 exercises per bodypart, totally focus on compuond exercises. good if your just starting. but if you like split, yeah sure go ahead. you're right, you can focus more on each BP..
