GNC Stores. Basically, if you are gonna visit NYC, you probably gonna visit the malls. And in every mall that i have been at, there is a GNC Store. I don't know the prices, but you can check it out at their website. Just google GNC and NYC and you'll probably get the info you need.

I recently joined Bally's in Levittown, $150 to start and $27. Not too bad, not too crowded and they have everything. Anyone go there? It would be nice to get a partner.

I'm in Queens. My gym: American Physique. I have a question, anyone is free to respond. When doing Dumbbell Overhead Presses, how heavy is too heavy? Are the shoulders structured in such a way that you don't have to go very heavy to get good development?

Just put up a picture of myself because of this thread.
To answer your question, it's too heavy when your form start to suffer.

Heavy is a relative term. While I don't think I'm going excessively heavy, after 15 years of lifting, my weights have gone up considerably. Still, keeping decent form, and good rep ranges should take precedence. That said, I always do laterals before presses, taking advantage of the pre-exhaust effect to hit the muscle harder, and keep the weights a little lower (hopefully lessening the chance of injury)

I use that same strategy. Shoulders still holding up after 24 years of hardcore lifting. Maximizing weights to maximize results usually does maximize chances of injury or overuse eventually. All you can do is proper warm-ups, good form, smart program structure, and hope for the best.

Brooklyn, New York. Bally's Sheepshead Bay. Gym is good, seperate dumbell room. Kind of crowded on weekdays after 5, but I'm used to it. Makes me laugh how there's always a huge line for the Abdominal machine, but never a person doing legs or shoulders.

I worked out at:
Gold's Bellmore- dirty,dirty,dirty!
Survival Gym in Seaford- nice, clean, small, many *******s
World Gym in West Babylon- very nice, but not for big guys
Dolphin Fitness in Amityville- AWSOME GYM! Everything was good from the machine to the price!
Power House in Stony Brook- ****ty and smelly
Gold's in Howard Beach- nice gym, good for talking to girls
Currently at Power House in Baldwin- great prices! friendly staff.
I really hate how most gyms on Long Island became heavy in the fees(Enrollment fee + $50-60 monthly fee), almost overnight.
Anyone know any hardcore gyms on the South shore? I just read about the Powerhouse next to Roosevelt Field and I'm gonna try it.

question for you guys!!
ok so me and a few of my boys (4/5 of us) are planning on going to NY for new year and celebrating it out there.
the only thing is we will be 19/20 so obv we cant go into clubs or buy alchol etc :/
so just looking to get some feedback from guys around NY or ppl who have been to ny for advice on what there would be for us to do out there and if its a good place to celebrate new year given our age restrictions?
all help will be repped ofc!
