whist not all young marriages fail, the statical divorce rate is very high for this group of couples.

no one can say your marriage in particular will die as there are far to many personal factors, but i think it is possible to generalise and say on the whole if you get married young your marriage will fail.

I did not categorize them as the same at all, actually. The use of the forward slash in my post was to infer other things, similar to the word or.

Why are you a lot cockier for a reason? Marine boot camp is tougher? That's cool and all, but that doesn't make you any better of a person. It simply means you MAY (note; many army soldiers could pass marine boot camp) be in better shape.
Some prefer not to join the Marines for a multitude of reasons, the stereotypical marine attitude (which you are fitting to a T) is one of them. Another is the fact that (as I've been told) the Marines are usually the first ones in. You can brag about how that makes you all more bad ass and awesome, but some would argue it's a death sentence and those who join other branches are in fact smarter.

No, sorry. If any Amry soldiers were to go to MCRDSD, they'd be crying before they're done processing. If it weren't for Marines, America would not be here today.

I disagree, I know a lot of strong Army soldiers, some of them are stronger than Marine soldiers I know. Are they all stronger? No. Are all the marines stronger? No.

Agreed. If it weren't for the army, America would not be here today. If it weren't for the Brittish, America would not be here today. Our fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers and further up do NOT give people the right to be rude and cocky because they got through boot camp.

What I think of when I hear that someon married early is that they wanted a marriage so that they married someone who they shouldn't have. Or the girl got knocked up. As long as you marry the right person, then there is no right age.

No i don't think its to young, I got married when i was 18, aka this past march. Currently everything is going great with my wife, and no, she's not pregnant. were waiting for another 2 years or so. If your ready, then its not to early. Just to many people rush into marriage and they don't think things through like budgets or future goals.

See what happened was that some one posted that it was too young. I felt like argueing with someone who would say that.
I read this whole thread to coming to the simple conclusion based on what you said above.. non of it is being taken out of context and is straight from the asses mouth

you are a douchebag

no, theres nothing wrong with getting married young, but you sir are too young to be getting married because quite simply your an immature dunce.

a. you think your higher than these so called 'civvies'
b. you think the marines are top ****
c. just because you've got enough money to buy a house doesn't mean you've got the brains to use what you've got. or appreciate for that manner
d. you married at 18, how long did that take to goto ****?
e. you said your woman right now is great, i wonder how things were going with your first marriage when it started out?
f. you blow up over a simple misunderstanding over army or marines.. wow sorry to break your all important self image there army-boy (see wat i did thar?)
g. i wonder how you will handle a domestic dispute if you cant even handle that... over the internet mind you.. maybe that's why your first and no doubt your second marriage will fall on its ass?
h. as you can see i can go on and on but ill finish with the most damning statement of all

I wonder who raised you? Your self deluded over generalization of civvies based on your inbred buck teethed hick parents don't apply to the rest of the nation buddy. If you can't respect your fellow human's you probably have no respectable qualities yourself.

But whatever, live your self deluded life, and your second ****ed up marriage.

Yes, you probably are too young to be married for the second time.

Problem is, you can't argue about it until 10 years from now. Then you'll be able to say your "I told you so's".

Until then, stfu. Your marriage track record speaks for itself.

Your new marriage doesn't mean ****, listening to you is like getting running tips from a guy at the start line.

My parents got married right when they were 20 because my dad was in the army... they've been together problem-free for 25 years now! It really goes case-to-case, there's no universal answer... I do know that I would NEVER consider marriage before 25 (and that's a conservative estimate)... but then again, I wasn't one of those kids out dating at 14, I was still playing with action figures.

i think a lot of guys that are married at around 19-20 marry the first girl that liked them which is very wrong.

they're basically afraid they won't find another girl so they stick with her.

how in the hell can you commit to a woman when you have zero experience with them is beyond me.

the worst is when ppl get married after only a few weeks/months of knowing each other.

i dont think its such a bad idea. as long as you are ready. if you arent then you arent doing you or her any favors by jumping into it an early age. as stated before, being financially stable is probably a major factor for me. i hope it works out for you though.

Got married got at the ripe young age of 22. 10 years later still going strong. I still get that excited feeling when I she her. All that good stuff like that when I first started sheing her is still there. I think the reason a lot of young couples who get marreid young, but don't last is because they still have growing up to do. We change as we get older and that can be tough for a partner to go through that change. Your never that same person your partner first meet and feel in love with 10 years ago.A lot of people think that once you get married it gets easier. No way. Marriage is alot of work. Change always happens. But if you love that person like no other then you work your ass off to make sure that marriage stays strong. There is nothing wrong with getting married young just as long as you are prepared for you and your partner to change as time goes by.

I think on the growing up part, if young couples could learn to grow together and be there for each other along the way (as opposed to growing apart), they would have a very meaningful relationship. (it's what I'm trying to do)

I got married at 19, he was 21. We'd known each other for 5 years and been dating for over a year. We celebrated our seven-year anniversary in July and are happier now than we've ever been.

I think that what a lot of people don't realize is that love is not a feeling, it's a commitment. You commit to love the other person, even during times when you don't like them very much. In a successful marriage, each person puts the other person's needs above his/her own.

My parents were 18 and 20 when they got married and they just celebrated their 40th anniversary. They taught me about marriage. My husband's parents have been married for over 30 years and they taught him a lot about marriage.

*Shrug* Were you picked on as child?
Repped. And the Marines say that there the first ones in is a joke, cause it's really the Army Green Berets or Delta Force.

I agree every branch bashes on each other it's a military thing. I have friends that are in all branches and it's something that we do even when were out at the bars and what not, but I say that about Marines cause there the only branch that doesn't have there own pay. If you were to look at a Marines check it would say department of the Navy. It's all in good fun.

It's not that marrying young is inherently bad, it's just statistically destined for failure.. Happy in the short term is by definition short sighted.

Getting married at 18-20, I dont understand. You have yet to establish yourself as a person. I got married at 25 (April last year), I had done the university thing, worked my way up and was in a management job. Prior to that, I wouldnt have been able to deal with it. We were living together for four years anyhoo, but you need to be a settled and balanced person in order to be married. When you are settled and balanced and can see exactly where you want to go, IMHO I think its easier to be a better husband. It also helps when you make plenty of money, one less thing to argue about.

My wife and I have a great relationship. We do our own things, our own hobbies etc, yet we are each others best friend as well. Our biggest arguments used to be over why the ironing wasnt done for my work shirts (white collar job the both of us, I work substantially more hours though). The solution, we pay a lady to do it for us. No more hassles.

Sometimes I think people are more in love with the ideal of marriage, rather than the person they are marrying.

I wouldnt marry anyone without having lived with them for at least four years.

Definitly is a case by case basis and what you really want to achieve out of life.

Personally, Im too immature and I have a few more things to tick off the list, I want to travel more, I enjoy randoms/clubbing, im not finacially secure enough. To sum it up im still a boy that has a lot of growing up to do and I accept that.

I have never even lived with a girlfriend yet so marrige is a massive step for me.

I have friends that are married, more seem miserable than happy.

EDIT: Can't spell
