Boots and calves
So.....another fall/winter season is about to begin. During my lunch hour I walked past the Macy's window full of beautiful boots and then I got sad?
I have NEVER been able to find boots that fit my calves...does anyone else have this problem?!?

sorta. I have the opposite problem though, my calves are always too small to fill out those knee high boots. They end up looking silly because they gap at the top

Yep I'm exactly the same. I usually end up with either ankle boots or normal heels to wear under my jeans.
I have seen on tv the really stretchy knee-high boots made out of suede look fabric, they seem to fit any size calf, but its a matter of finding them first!

Man I wish I had your problem. I would love to have bigger calves. I have the calves of a distance runner, and have a very hard time trying to get them to grow out.

Yup. When I was riding hunter/jumpers I had to have my boots custom made because I could never find showboots that fit my calves.

Yeah I can never find boots that fit my calfs because they are too small so of course i don't fill them in. I would rather them not fit me and have some bad ass calfs!!! Can I just have yours??

I have NEVER been able to fit a pair of boots that aren't stretchy... but my body fat is high so I'm not sure if it's cause my calves are muscular or just fat. My feet are small too...size 6 1/2...you're not alone girl!!

My calves are actually decent-sized for my frame, but most boots are too big in that area. I always end up looking like a little kid wearing her mommy's boots. I just cannot find boots that fit properly so I've given up looking (for now).

I don't know if this is a solution or not, but it's something to think about. Now that 'skinny jeans' are back in style, and a lot of pants are being made to be fitted all the way down to the ankle, try wearing boots over your pants, and see if that doesn't help to fill the gaps. Okay, I know it's not a solution when you're wearing a skirt, but it's a start...

I too have the same problem but LOVE tall boots.
Try JCrew - they have some beautiful boots in extended calf sizes. That's where mine are from and they are outstanding quality.

dont know if they are fashionable in the US - but I love my slouch boots! They are flat (I'm a mum of two young kids - so cant run around in heels) and so cute! Plus they fill out my hated skinny ankles and make my legs look more proportionate.

You are SOOOOO not alone here. I'm a size 2/4 but have big calves...14". I tried on so many styles. Once I found a pair that fit, I bought one in black, brown & tan. You just need to try on boots when you see them. eventually you'll find some that work. Once I tried on a pair and got them zipped, but couldn't get them unzipped. They had to be cut, yes I said cut, off. So embarassing!

You guys can just buy some matching leather (or whatever the boots are made out of) and take it to a shoe repair place. They can sew it in and make them big enough to fit your calves.
Luckily I don't have that problem anymore, but I did have trouble finding good boots when I was heavier.

Hey Emoore, I know about the riding boot problem! I'm hanging on to a pair of Vogel boots that need to be altered to fit my calves since they are bigger now than when I bought the boots (over 10 years ago). Stretching no longer works...they are stretched as far as they will go!
For regular boots, you can have an elastic gusset added so if you love a pair of boots and they don't fit quite right, this may be an option.

Every time I attempt to try on a pair of boots I can't get it up more than 2 inches. If anyone finds nice quality, stylish boots for the coming winter season please let me know!

I have the skinny calf problem but had some luck on Zappos.com, they have boots for thin legs and for wider calves. Plus their shipping is free, even on returns so you can just keep ordering and returning until you find a pair you like.

I feel your pain! I've never been bale to wear knee high boot because of my calves... I had yet again another disappointing experience at target this weekend.. haha.
If anybody finds anything in generic stores/easier to find that would actually fit girls with big calves.. please share!

Thanks for posting those websites ladies. I have the same skinny calf issue and have never been lucky enough to own a pair of knee high boots.

I've never been able to find boots that fit over my calves, even when I was down to 119 lbs. I still had 14" calves. Then I also have high arches, so the boots cut off circulation in my feet too.

Pardon me for butting in
Pardon me for butting in.
However, I've been chuckling over this thread since it started.
(with you ladies with much affection, not at you)
Somehow, when a bunch of gals get together, you can count on a footware discussion.
Not that it matters, but IMHO more gastrocnemius/soleus looks much better than less.
Worth sacrificing the boots.

Another online boot place... http://www.widewidths.com/
Just found them and I'll be trying them out when winter comes once more to the Land of Oz.

I know of shops in Glen Burnie, MD
Pricey but worth a perfect fit.
If you're fortunate and live near a shoe repair or leather repair shop, some can "mend" your boots to fit. I have the skinny problem but I don't see any reason a strip of elastic cannot be placed into a boot that it too tight.

Aldo shoe stores...
They have a machine that will stretch them out for you.
I too can never find boots that fit around my calves...the damn zipper was always stuck down by my ankle.
One day this lovely lady informed me I could have them stretched with a special on site machine...came back after work to pick them up...and voila! beautiful boots that fit like a dream!!!

Personally I dont wear boots, my calves are way too skinny anyhow....but my daughter seems to have huge calves and she is only 13. It's hard for her to find Jumping boots for 4H. Even knee high socks wont fit her. I'm guessing we'll have to special order boots for her.
