Do you get PMS cravings?
Wow, I can't believe there are 3 threads here all about PMS cravings. I guess I'm a lucky bastard because I don't get them. Do you guys?
Also, does being on birth control influence whether you get them or not?

No, I get all-the-time cravings. My period has nothing to do with it lol.

I crave chocolate and starchy foods. Drives me nuts! Happens about a week before. Then, I have to spend the next two weeks working off what I ate.

Yeah, really bad, and I usually find some way to satisfy them without eating over the amount of calories I need. I'm really lax about my diet anyways.
This might just be me, but I always loose weight on my period, I don't understand it. Maybe the body requires more energy at that time for some reason?

I do too...but I think it's just water weight. (I inevitably gain it back prior to the next period.)

Oh wow. I was just talking about my monthly issues just yesterday and trying to figure out how to handle it. I'm only 27 and I noticed my PMS issues are getting worse. It's gotten so bad to where I cut my hair off last month. My hair is short anyway but I was trying to grow it back to the length it is in my avatar picture. From being so short to where I only had to brush it, I grew it out for about a month and half and I think it was about 1-1/2 inch length. About the 2nd day into my menstrual, I went to the barber shop and cut it off. Its been 2 weeks and now I'm regretting it.
Not only do I do crazy stuff, but my sexual hormones are crazy about 2-3 days before I come on, and I crave everything I shouldn't have like cookies, cake, and Ben & Jerrys. I take Naproxen for the cramps and uneasy stomach, but it does nothing for my mood swings and cravings. Any suggestions that will keep me on track with my diet and exercise next time around?

I do, and they're so horrible, it's beyond crazy everytime, 10 days or so before my period starts. It's just so intense.

I get cravings too, but I curb them with lots of strawberries, plus strawberry smoothies made w/milk--and I also like to munch on these fruit flavored/sugar-free fiber pills that I keep on hand. Seems to help.

Yes, but not for chocolate or sweets, usually carbs and salt, which means homemade baked frenchfries

Never experienced cravings until about a year or 2 ago. However, it happens mid-cycle when I'm ovulating so not really PMS. I crave sweets, either chocolate or ice cream and I indulge.
I've never suffered from mood swings thank god. I'd much rather have a sweet tooth.

Yep ... I get them a few days before it hits ... and I have one day of unsatiable hunger where I could eat and eat and eat!!! lol
Lately I have been craving more salty foods like tostitos and dip but I like my sweets too I just give in and get the craving over with and enjoy whatever my body seems to be craving that month!

As long as my diet is balanced and clean, I don't get the cravings. But, the moment I over step my carb consumption or eat anything with white flour or sugar in it - BAM! I get really bad PMS cravings.

what you are saying sounds fair to me!! give in just one day only in reasonable moderation....listen to your body and give it what it craves!!

strange you should mention this because my mother told me something about this a couple months ago...but she was comparing the body's desire for white flour and sugar to a drug addicts need for drugs because white flour and sugar is poision for our bodies and we as americains are hooked on it.... my mom can sometimes be way off in left field but she may be closer to home than i thought on this one..

LOL @ nasty bitch. Same here!! I'm trying to convince my husband to build a small house in back of our house so I can hang out there when it's that time of the month.

Oh, absolutely - I read a book a while ago called "The Schwartzbein Principle". She (a doctor) explains in her book how staying away from white flour and sugar are essential to your health. She is right - but it really takes awhile to adhere to. After a month, you feel the difference. It's amazing, and your mom is totally right on this I don't eat/drink anything with caffeine in it, either.
