Well, I don't know how far Woodville is from MN. But if it's not that far I'd meet up to lift together.....I need to start using a lifting partner anyway.

Maybe making sure to do special things, other than the time you spend at the gym (something that is special in her eyes, or something SHE wants to do), will make her feel more secure and less threatened by the time you spend at the gym. If that doesn't seem to be a solution, the problem may be deeper. Does she have something that she likes to do on her own, or with her friends? Maybe encourage her to do that and let her know you support her interests. Just my 2 cents.

Wow!!!
First off I want to say congrats to eveyone who has posted pictures/stories of their journey
I have lurked around on this board for a little bit but this thread has now inspired me to post my story
All my life I was very athletic up until a knee injury ruined any dreams I had of playing football in college - I was in the gym from age 13-20 and loved the way I looked back then... I graduated HS at 195 8%BF - well after realizing I was never going to play football again I started to let myself go... all the drinking in college didnt help either - I ballooned up to 230 by age 22 - and after coming to terms with the realization that I was 'fat' (seeing picture after picture of my fat self confirmed this) I lost about 20lbs through diet and exercise and was content (not happy but content) with the way I looked... this was about 5 years ago - since then Ive settled down and joined corporate america and once again around June of this year I found myself tipping the scales at 235 - With my 10 year HS reunion less than a year away I've vowed to lose the fat and gain some muscle... and get as close to my former HS self as I can - my ideal goal is around 200-205 8-10%BF
My journey started July of this year where I weighed in at 235 and around 30-35%BF as of today I am proud to say I am at 202 and around 18%BF - in the past I would have been content to stay where I am now and go back to my normal everyday life but this thread has inspired me so much that I will not stop until my goal is reached!
So I say thank you to th OP and all the people who have posted their stories that have not only insired me but also inspired everyone else to set thier goals and achieve them - anything is possible with hard work and dedication!
I need to post some before and after pictures - unfortunately I dont believe I have any pics of myself with no shirt on during my "fat" phase so I'll see what I can dig up...

Wow, whining about whining aren't you a class act. I wanted to be inspired but I saw a before and after that looked the same. How is calling a spade a spade being a jackass. If that comment is too much for you I suggest you reconsider life, you are far too thin skinned for this world.

Weight Loss
So many of you have lost an amazing amount of weight. Mine is not so amazing but still pretty considerable. I was over 240lbs at one point but always told myself I was bulking. My abs are pretty much visible no matter what but the real fat resides in my lower back and that is where a lot of it came off from, as well as the lower abdomen. The before pic here I am about 235, the after is 206 I believe. I was ten days away from my show and got a bit leaner at 203 on show day. This is still the only show I have done and will be for a while until I can make improvements. I never really believed I was capable of getting in this type of condition but anyone can do it with the right discipline and knowledge.
Great job everyone...very inspiring.

I?m new to this whole environment but the more I learn the more I like it. This is the first time I ever participate on any forum but I will make it a habit as I see lots of opportunity to learn from everyone in here. Also, seeing pictures and hearing stories like this one just motivates me to keep on going.

I topped at 275 lbs in 2005. After a year and a half of dieting and exercise, I lost 150 lbs, down to a skinny 125 lbs. Then in Nov 2006 I started lifting; it's been almost 2 years now of consistent lifting, and I gained around 15 lbs.
My before pic:
My after pic, after 3.5 years of effort:
I'm still working on my physique. Might take me maybe a year or two before I'm happy. That's my progress so far.

Wow. While not the transformation typically seen in this thread that is still very impressive. I've read your blog & seen the progress pics. Mind if I ask if you knew what your BF %s were at each stage/pic?

I didn't get any type of crazy BF testing done but based on a book I read regarding BF levels related to body markers such as skin fold and such I would say first pic I was 18% and second pic I was 4%.

Wow. That is DAMN impressive if so. Based on your posted weight in each pic:
Before: 235lbs @ 18% BF = 42.3lbs
After: 206lbs @ 4% BF = 8.24lbs
You lost 29lbs of body weight but 34lbs of fat. You GAINED about 5lbs of muscle doing that??? DAMN!! Well done!!!
To be honest, I'm relieved your After % was so low, and from the tight striations I believe it (typically most BF guesses on BB are, IMHO, wayyyyyy too generous on the lean side). My goal is 8% by February 09', and I'm fairly confident I'm around 11-12% right now, which means I need to drop about 10lbs of fat (based on the scale saying 196.5lbs now)
Your numbers will really help me put BF%s to your Progress pics. This is very helpful. I'd really like to get to about your late March-early April pics as far as my torso/"basket weave" of the obliques & serrats.

These first and last picture were taken exactly a year apart. The middle picture was about 8 months after starting to work out and trying to bulk up before cutting down for the first time ever.
