Question Is a pear a pear? An apple an apple?

So i was at the grocery store the other day picking up some produce and they didn't have any "regular" pears like bartlett pears - the green ones lol

All that was there were these brown ones called bosco so i just bought them! And they takes good! very sweet!!

So this got me thinking (borring day at work- i will think up some wierd thoughts haha) & its kind of a pointless question regarding calories. Do all pears and apples (whatever kind you get- there are soooo many diff kinds of apples) have similar calorie counts?!

the sneakiest thing i've found with fruits is that they come in very different sizes... a "serving" of apple, depending on where yuo look, is anywhere from 3 to 7 oz. the other day i found a macintosh that didn't look that big, but it felt heavy, so i weighedit, and i was over a lb!!

generally apples and pears are all similar, but it helps to weigh the fruit to see what you are really getting calorie wise

Very true! I think I used to have the notion that the average apple was like 50 calories or something, but it turns out it's more like 100.

I've found a big difference in apple weight too. Some I was getting were like 250g each, which was giving me too many carbs for my macros. I've found some small green apples at the farmers market that are closer to 100g, which is a much better serving size for me.

I agree with LionChick, weighing them is a good idea to know what your getting.
