Pain in forearms
I have the strangest pain in my forearm (on the outer right side, when palms are facing downward) extending from the middle of my forearm almost down to the elbow.
The pain is exacerbated especially when performing bicep curls or even simply by applying pressure to the area. Has anyone ever experienced something similar?

might have strained a muscle in your forearm id try ice for 20 remove for 20 and ice for another 20 and go light on weights w/ that arm and see if this makes any difference

I have experienced this many times. Infact, when training heavy - my forearm has given out before my actual major muscle group has while doing something like lat pulldowns. I am a small framed and my bracelet size is 6.5 inches (such a pain with watches UGH!) so I add forearm exercises to my weekly training in order to prevent this pain/strain from occuring. It is not tendonitis or anything like that, it's just the way I am built per my MD. Try building up your forearms a little bit. It may help. Best wishes to you - Iron

That makes a lot of sense. I don't do any exercises specific to my forearms. Thanks for your help =)

As the other poster suggested, I would apply ice and maybe rest it for a little while. You might have just overworked your forearm. But, if the problem persists even after rest, I would recommend you see a doctor.

My forearms are always the first thing to go on my at the end of my routines, followed by my shoulders. Ive had a lot of pain in my forearms on many occasions and Ive found that after I take a week off, I come back and they feel fine. Recently though in my left inner part of it, it hurts bad just to pick up the weight. So I decided to take 2 weeks off and see if maybe I just overworked or strained it to much (I lift heavy often, deadlifts, pulling, ETC...). So far I have taken a week off and it already feels better. No pain anymore, but I am still going to wait it out.
Ive come to the conclusion that no matter what I do my forearms tend to always seem to get strained and I even work them out...which many people dont do. Like my shoulders, because I am hitting them so much through secondary heavy lifting, they just go out a lot faster than other parts of me. Hope this helps.

Oh gawd...man I've been suffering from the same thing for about 2 months now. I know Im aggravating it every time I do curls and barbell rows but do you think I'll take a week off....nooooooeeeww. Its getting so bad that I skipped my fave workout of bi's/tri/s today for my least fave (legs).
When I put on a linement and workout its not too bad, but I sure pay for it afterwards. Cant even do a bicep pose.
The smart thing to do here would be avoid bicep workouts and barbell rows or just plain take a week or two off.
Whatever everyone else does to solve this, I'd sure like to hear it, its holding me back.

I've had a similar kind of sore/tenderness in that area as well from doing grip work and what not. Like everyone else said, I'd try and ice it periodically and let it heal up before you go real heavy. When it starts to feel better add some forearm work to your training . Best of luck, you look great!

Does the area hurt more as you put the weight down and release your grip?
I too have this middle of my forearm only on my left side.
I stopped doing any weights involving curls and continued my normal regime , Bench press and Deadlifts etc

I had the same problem, was one of the first injuries I'd had from the gym. Hence ignoring the pain and commencing the curls! Bad move. Was out for 3 weeks, lost motivation during that time and it ended up being over 3 months. So, indeed.. let it fully heal before using that muscle group again.
A good stretch for the forearm is to use the other hand to bend your fingers back towards the ground while keeping your forearm parallel with the ground (perpendicular to your body). After the stretch slowly let your fingers raise or it can hurties

Could be nerve entrapment, pulled muscle, or tendonitis/tendonisis
Go to a sports doctor, Ive had nerve entrapment for a year thinking it was tendonisis, and it doesnt get better by itself

Mine hurts personally when I am carrying the weight. Its weird though it comes and goes, its not like constant. When I say hurt also, keep in mind I mean its just a nagging kind of annoyance more than anything. It dont prevent me from doing my workouts, but any kind of pain, whether it be serious or small, I try to give my body time to properly recover from it.

Carrying the weight USUALLY isn't a problem unless I happen to move my wrist the wrong way. I'm going to avoid exercises which isolate my bicep muscles for a few weeks. They seem to do me in the most. I have to take this week off for vacation (ugh), so I guess it'll force me to rest for a week. Next week I'll get back to performing what lifting exercises don't cause pain. Thanks everyone

Forearm splints. They are a bitch and i never figured out how to really help them .Ice works but it doesnt relieve the pain. They will go away after a while and straps help to stabilize your grip in the mean time.

I know this could potentially be a bad quick fix for my problem, but someone at the gym recommended that I try lifting straps to help support my wrists for dead lifts and upright rows. I tried them out today with dead lifts and felt no pain. I've also been resting for the past week so I'm sure that's helping too.

I started using lifting straps recently because I felt like my forearms were getting way to much work. Ive stopped working my forearms on this routine, but the nagging pain still seems to be there. The straps help to keep some of the weight off the forearm but still it sucks especially when I do pullups or something where I cant use the straps. I think eventually it will go away because it has gotten less sever than it used to be, only time will tell. If it gets bad again I might have to take a little longer than 2 weeks off......which will suck ass but eh.....sometimes its required.

Yes, pull-ups most definitely aggravate my forearms. They are feeling fine right now, but I'm itchin' to see how Friday goes when I start off with pull-ups for my bi/tri workout haha. Hope your forearms begin to feel better soon!

Yea I have the exact same thing.
I believe you get it if your form is a little sloppy. I was curling my wrists with my bicep exercises and that means heavy weight on weak forearms.
Before I work my biceps now, I warm up my forearm with small weight and some stretching. And now I don't curl my wrists at all.

I have the same exact pain you are getting. Ive been experiencing it for almost 2 months now. I never had it before but it seems after one heavy back workout it started to develop.
Most days I dont feel pain such as chest, shoulders or back workouts. Its when I train arms. Dumbells no pain, ez bar slight pain acted up last week, and straight BB curls hurt..and the pain is worst when putting the weight down I have to very slowly release my grip. Im taking a week off this week to see if that helps and will ice the area and am trying to avoid using my right arm as much as possible (pain is only in the right forearm).

ha this happens all the time.
no worries.
you most likely bumped it into something.
orr you strained.
push your wrist up
while ur palm is facing down to the ground
repeat this a bunch of times.
just a little exercise that will help.

Damn thats sucks 2weeks and no relief? Yea the pain is just like that. I still do feel it while doing the actual curl but when I go to release I do wait to open my hands to reduce some of the pain. Ill try to find something to help...report back if you have any luck.

I had a problem lik that 4 years ago. I wasn't able to be in push-up position since the pain was so high. I went to a sport doctor and give me a couple of simple exercise with band to help with the flexibility of the forearm. Yea, maybe you guys have a flexibility issues in your forearms.
If your pain persist for more than 2 weeks, always go see a doctor or a physio. You don't wanna agravate your problem.
It's a shame i dont remember the exercise, it took about 3 week to get ride of my pain. If anybody kow thoses exercise, put them in that threat, it couls help some peoples.
