Anyone on the pill?
Is anyone here on the pill? Can you recommend one that doesn't impact your weight too much? I am sick of sitting around waiting for my period and spending 2 weeks in PMS!!! LOL

the B.C. pill ? You'll need to go see ur Gyno for this. Only him/her can prescribe one to you anyways, well at least that's how it works in Canada

I have been on the same pill for years. I'm on Cyclen (not Tri-Cyclen). I have tried other pills (including tri-cyclen) and I didn't like it. It (cyclen) is a low estrogen pill and works for me. Ultimately though you should speak to your dr. as there may be something newer, possibly better for you to try. Your Dr. will probably also tell you take the pill for three months to see how you feel on it and how your periods are.
Good luck!

I use nuvo ring. My cycle is not down to the second like it was when regulated by the pill, but I no longer have near the number of migraines I use to get while on the pill.

How long have you been on the pill for? I know that it takes 3 months for your system to get used to the pill but one month to protect from pregnancy.
With that said, perhaps give your pill a bit more time. I am on Jasmine and I LOVE IT! I used it before my son and after (Did not get pregnant on the pill we stopped using the pill to have a planned pregnancy). I did experience nausea at first with Jasmine for the first month while getting used to it. I haven't had any weight increase...in fact ive been able to lose nearly 40 pounds while on it. I really disagree that the pill gets in the way of weight loss. I think it's more a matter of a women needs to pay attention to what she is eating. I do however believe that the Depo shot does cause weight gain.

I've been on several different pills, and although everybody is different and will react differently to different pills, do not take seasonal (the one were you get your period 4x yr). I was on it for a little over a year and I gained 20lbs. I also quit smoking so that was another reason, but I always felt bloated and when I got off I felt better. I also don't like Yaz, makes me have horrible cramps & heavy periods. I was taking Alesse (or avain - one was generic) and that one was good, but its not covered by my insurance anymore. Ortho tri cyclin I haven't been on in years and im now switching to the Ortho tri cyclin lo, so i'm not sure how it is yet, but I'll try to remember to let you know. good luck!

I can't remember what exactly the brand of it is called, but I'm on a birth control pill with the lowest amount of estrogen possible that still protects from pregnancy. I get my period like clockwork and it's much less flowage than it used to be when I wasn't on the pill. In the past, I had taken ortho tri-cyclin which is a somewhat high dose of estrogen (according to my doc) and it made me gain a bit of weight. It also made me feel sort of disconnected. I haven't felt any different on this new, low-estrogen pill, and I totally recommend it.

Ya know...I just changed my pill from Tri Noranyl to YAZ...I have not gotten my period yet as I should have. Could this be do to the change from one pill to another? I put a call into my MD. I'm moderatly concerned. If any of you has any info on this, please let me know. Thx

As far as I know, most pills won't cause weight gain per se, but can make it more difficult lose weight, if that makes sense. I suppose it's because BCP's raise the level of Sex Hormone Binding Globulin, thus reducing the amount of free test in your system.
I was on the pill for ten years, and I thought everything was dandy, but... towards the end there I was having some side effects (the whole time I was on it I was thinning hair, but it got worse, then my sex drive dropped, hard to lose weight, emotional issues every couple of weeks, etc) and opted to drop the pill entirely.
Got the Mirena IUD a month ago and am loving it! Seems like the weight is coming off easier too.
I see one poster mentioned Depo, but the shot is notorious for causing weight gain in the first year of use, upwards of 15 lbs.

I'm on Loestrin 24, it's a lose dose pill as well. I'm into my 3rd month and so far haven't gotten my period yet. Doc told me it could take anywhere from 3-6 mos for my body to adjust, but I might go back and talk to her if I don't get it once I start my placebos for the momnth...

I'm on Trivors. It's the 3rd BCP I've tried and the only one that didn't give me my period for the entire month straight. My periods are only 3-4 days long and no longer very heavy. I get bloated a day before my period and it usually goes away 2 days in.
