a lot of people that grow up with great parents look for their partner to have a lot of the same/similar qualities and characteristics as their parents. the mindset is that it worked for my parents, they are both happy, so I want someone llike my dad/mom also, because that seems like the most logical way to make sure he/she marrys the right person

This is not necessarily the case. There are many nice young men and young women out there. Not everyone is a hater. The young man Jaw-Knee is obviously beyond any advice I could give him but there are others on this forum that may be looking for a ray of hope and perhaps I can shine a little illumination their way. I write to let them know that not all relationships or marriages fail, some like mine last for a very long time. I also write to let them know that there are still people in this world that truly love and care for each other.

Now is my trying to pass along a little wisdom and hope useless? Well, I guess that would depend on who you ask. I know it does no good to cast your pearls before swine but when sowing seeds or ideas the one must sow on both the hard ground and the fertile ground. On the fertile ground the seeds will grow and thrive and good will spring forth but on the hard ground the seeds will die and be replaced by thorns that choke off the good. In the end one will be cherished and the other one shunned. Only time will tell the fruits of my labor, for I am just a sower, the harvesting will be done by others.
