Full body vs split workouts
So what are the pros and cons either way? I see most people do split workouts, but I have read a few posts that have raved about full body. I'm feeling confused and not sure which I should be using.

i think both would work, especially for a new trainee.
if you are a novice, you could get away with full body.
also, a lot of strength programs go with the whole body approach.

I'm not after strength as such, I'm after muscle gain - and lots of it. I wouldn't call myself a novice as such - have actually done weights on and off since my teens, though not hard core lifting like I've been doing this year.

I personally prefer a split since you can concentrate more intensely on each given muscle group...

x2. I saw most of my progress (in terms of putting on muscle) using a split with a bodypart per day (5x/week).

I think you will make better muscle gains by doing a split workout routine. You want to hit the muscle hard, then give it time to rest/grow before you hit it again...jmo.

full body routine is great if your goal is fat loss because you burn more calories doing this routine. a split will help you focus on your muscle groups more intensly, hitting each one with the intensity that you need.
