23. Jun Akiyama:
Jun was nicknamed the Supernova of wrestling from his early 90's debut due to his amazing skill for such an inexperienced wrestler. His uncanny in-ring ability from day one made him one of the worlds top wrestlers by the mid-90's. He climbed the ladder at a rapid pace in All Japan almost capturing the Triple Crown right before the All Japan/NOAH split in 2000. Upon NOAH's arrival he quickly became the company ace and leading man scoring clean victories (and why would they NOT be clean in Japan) over Mitsuharu Misawa and Kenta Kobashi. One of the most cocky coldhearted yet skilled and gifted wrestlers he sports an impressive win-loss record to back up his cockyness. Now just leaving his best years behind him Akiyama is as great as ever and makes my list for remaining one of, if not the only top Japanese wrestler of the 90's to still be able to pull near perfect matches. Truly one of the all time great puroresu stars.

Well what happened to Rey? Please explain.
The only difference I see from back then to now is that he's more well known, he's buff, he talks more, and he's slowed down a bit in the ring, not much though. I mean he's still doing amazing things, what's there to hate on?

22. Owen Hart:
Hart is considered to be one of the most talented wrestlers of all time. He had it all: The technique, agility and he was a great high flyer and mat wrestler. He was underrated through out his career, but he had an amazing heel run from right before Wrestlemania 10 until he joined The new Hart Foundation. When Owen became the only Hart in the WWF, he was destined to have success...one would think so anyway. Owen was promised a raise and a push, they had big plans for him in 99 after he was to end the Blue Blazer gimmick which was his temporary punishment for not agreeing to have an affair with Debra to lead to a feud with Jeff Jarrett. Sadly though it all ended tragically before anything major could happen. It ended with his death at the Over the Edge PPV on May 23, 1999. Not for his untimely death but for being perhaps the most technically sound and charismatic wrestler there ever was and for the success he did achieve in his career, Owen makes my list.

21. Samoa Joe:
The Babe Ruth of Ring of Honor as Gabe has called him, finally makes my list. One of the best wrestlers I've ever seen and the hardest working man in the business today. I stopped being amazed long ago at what Joe can do for a man of his size who has tremendous agility. He works his heart out in his matches and it shows. What I love most about this man besides his work ethic is that he exemplify's the realistic, hard-hitting style that I've come to know and love in wrestling. He makes professional wrestling feel like it's a sport. Probably responsible for the growth of ROH more than anyone else, he defines what the company is about : Hardwork, dedication and toughness. Now in TNA he is continuing to give it his all in every match and while I've missed him in ROH, hey, he deserves everything he gets in the industry and I know he continues to bust his ass every time he steps through those ropes. Watch his matches with Low Ki, CM Punk, Austin Aries and my favorite the one with Kenta Kobashi to prove my point that Samoa Joe is pro wrestling today.

damn Owen you were so close to making the top 20..tough to find a more solid run than when Owen turned heel and was doing the King of Harts gimmick
Jun's match with Kobashi around Christmas of 2000 was incredible. I believe Meltzer even gave it at least 4.5 if not 5 star.

Great match and great run. What would stop Owen from being in anyones top 5 had he avoided doing that lame ass stunt where he was to come down then trip and fall in the ring.
I guess it could have been entertaining. The new Blue Blazer was to mock Hogan, Sting (at least entrance wise), Warrior and Macho Man among others to show how out of touch and cheesy those characters truly were. But FFS how could they have allowed this to go terribly wrong?
Still burns my ass worse than a 4 foot flame.

Hell, might as well open this can of worms now. I'll just make a little annoucement before we get to the top 10. Chris Benoit, in spite of all his matches and accomplishments, will not be recognised by me and is not one of my top 100 wrestlers. Some of you may not agree as this is a list for wrestlers not outstanding men of the year but Chris Benoit to me, is someone I cannot bring myself to do a positive write up for nor do I have it in me anymore to even praise his ringwork. So I'm sorry but because of that, I will not list him.

Good, hopefully Meltzers voters will kick him out of the WON HOF when they vote soon.

Not a bit. I'd say he slowed down a lot. Amazing things? I haven't seen him do ****. Granted I don't watch Smackdown, but I do see his matches at PPV's. Rey just bores the hell out of me now. And the 619 is so corny to me. Like I said, I don't find him entertaining in the least any more.

Rey Misterio Jr.'s injuries have just taken their toll on him.
Thanks, Jimbob and Dis. I actually don't think too many people will disagree afterall.
Tomorrow I am should list 10. I hope to list them in 2 blocks of 5.

Watch the oldschool Rey Misterio Jr. matches. They're incredible and it's incredible how much he reminded me of Tiger Mask with his style although he took it up a notch. He wasn't as out of control as Tiger was and was more graceful in the air and such. In WCW he was the most exciting man to watch and was heads above Juventud (although to be fair, he wasn't as technically sound as him), Psicosis and anyone else I can think of. Yeah it was tough, as much as I love Terry but I tried to do this the right way at least in my mind.

I've seen his work in Mexico, ECW & WCW, and, unfortuneatly, the crap he's put out in WWE... And you've still got yourself a sworn enemy.

Samoa Joe is the one guy who's lack of mic skills are overlookable to me because he's just SO good in the ring... anyone who can take a fictional move like the Muscle Buster and make it an actual finisher is just showing off their incredible ability!!

20. Bryan Danielson:
Danielson is the best in the world, and no matter how good those who placed lower than him are, they definitely do not measure up to Danielson in terms of talent. By workrate alone, he is superior to some who are yet to be named. Only 27 years of age Danielson has won several wrestler of the year awards in light of his work ethic, fighting through serious injury, and consistently putting on great matches. Trained by Shawn Michaels he'll one day replace Benoit and Angle as the take no prisoners technical wrestler who can do it all inside the ring. Simply put, he's the best in the world today and one day the entire wrestling world will get to notice that.

Hey man, I liked his alliance with Misterio in ECW. I mean one half was the greatest high flyer of the 90's, the other the greatest technician of the 90's. That was even better than the alliance between John Kronus and New Jack. What did you have? The Greatest Highflying Technical Wrestling Tag Team In The History of Wrestling! Just be patient, 19 more to go. He could be # 1. If he's not then I guess my list = fail.

He actually only deserves to be no 2, Al Madril should be no 1.

19. Eddie Guerrero:
Not only did we see his plight on wrestling programs but we seen it as a human being as we'd read about Eddie's personal struggle with addiction and how he overcame it. When I first seen he and Benoit holding the belts at Wrestlemania 20, I was proud. I still am, of Eddy. The spotlight was on him and he had truly earned it. So for all of this and for his work in Japan as Black Tiger, his tag team work with Art Barr, his simply amazing matches in ECW, WCW and WWF/WWE, Eddy places in my top 20. He was beloved for playing a heel. He was a charismatic star. His "Lie, Cheat and Steal" anti-hero image found favor with millions of wrestling fans. His technical wrestling expertise, his high flying lucha libre style, his charisma, his charm and his entertaining nature remains a huge loss to the world of professional wrestling. I miss you Eddy, there will never be another like you.

18. Randy Savage:
One of the greatest all around workers in the history of North America and one of the biggest draws both in WWF and WCW. Great in the ring, gold on the mic, he had charisma for days and was involved in some of the best feuds, best matches, best PPV's and best segments in wrestling history. Brilliant as a heel and excellent as a face he'd cut some of the wildest promo's you'd ever hear. Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage, NUFF SAID. He carried Ultimate Warrior to a classic encounter, NUFF SAID. Despite Hogan's ultra popularity in the 80's, Savage was the far better worker and I honestly believe him to be the top worker in the world from the mid-80's to the early 90's. A future Hall of Famer if there ever was one, he should have been inducted ages ago.

Haha, I remember meeting the "Macho Man" when I was a youngster. He did an autograph signing at a "Toys R Us." It was one of the most exciting and memorable moments of my childhood.

17. Tiger Mask:
The original Tiger Mask, Satoru Sayama finally makes my list. Stars such as Ultimo Dragon, Jushin Thunder Liger and Great Sasuke owe many thanks to this man who took a cartoon comic book character and made it into a legit wrestler as well as a huge social phenomenon. He single-handedly set the Jr. Heavyweight wrestling world on fire after his debut in the early 80's. This death-defying and revolutionary masked marvel took the style of his childhood idol Mil Mascaras and with his own incredible skill turned it into his own. He forever changed the business for wrestlers under 225 lbs. Simply put, history may prove the original Tiger Mask to be the single most important and influential man in the history of wrestlings Jr. Heavyweight, Cruiserweight or Lightweight divisions. Collect his matches with Dynamite Kid.
