thatta boy. killer workout. if your trying to gain some size, i would suggest eating a little more for your size, your already stupid lean and can get in that condition again even if you do gain an ounce of fat.

Love tuna! Just loaded up on it today at the grocery store. I have never really been into fish much..and the only fish I really eat is tuna..but I have considered eating salmon. If I mess with Omega's it's in the natural PB..that's about it..

Hey bro, off the top of my head I couldn't say..I'll post the macros ASAP. I stay pretty consistent with my diet so it's got to be around the same amount of cals, fats, carbs and protein everyday. I'll hit up the calculations this weekend and post em'. I'm pretty curious myself!

Thanks Kirk! Yeah, felt great today! I'm going to definitely start bumping up the cals a little more. I've got close to a year to put on some solid mass and then will be cutting up the remaining months until competition..I just don't want to over do it..So I will bump up the cals little by little.

Nick,
I've been following your journal. Just wanted to say you've been doing a great job and you're an inspiration to all. Thanks for all the hard work you're putting in.
Quick question: Have you every done a breakdown of the carbs, proteins, and fats that you take in per day? Just wondering what those numbers would come out to.
Also, from reading your journal, it seems that your diet stays pretty consistent. What are your thoughts about carb cycling? I started doing it after reading the posts by JoshBme and JamerJay (two of your fellow top 6's)
Thanks man.

Today is usually leg day, but I was off schedule this week dude to training with my buddy Monday. As I hit the bench putting up the first set I felt strong! I was surprised because usually at the end of the week my arms, shoulders and overall strength is usually not as strong as it would be towards the begining or even middle of the week...and even though I felt strong today..I didn't want to over do it on the first routine and up the weight just yet, as I still had about 7 more chest exercises to hit up and wanted to make sure I completed what I set out to do without failure...So I stuck to my current weight. I plan on upping it a bit within the next couple weeks. Today a kid dropped about 135lbs on his chest..Young kid, you could tell he just started and didn't know his limits. I saw him out of the corner of my eye and watched as he tried to put up the last rep..He tried very hard and then gave up after his arms started shaking..I rushed over and helped lift the bar off his chest. You could tell he felt a little embarrased..He said "Thanks", and I said "No problem, it happens to all of us"..because it does. I think he left after that. My wife came to work out with me today and did mostly cardio as I weight lifted, then we hit up abs together. She's been working a lot lately but tries to make it in when she can...and when she does, she works hard. A 75 year old man who is one of the most ripped 75 year old dudes I have ever seen came up to me today and said "Is this her? Is this the beauty? Man, you better take care of her!! She is beautiful!" She blushed and I said, "Thank you". I think he wished he was 26 all over again! Lol. I see him all the time in there workin out set after set. I admire that..75 years old and still going strong with the blood still pumping through his veins.
.......So legs tomorrow! Going to kill it and make it hurt!
You all have a great night, and I will talk to you soon.
Nick

Thank you for the kind words Andrew! I will be posting macros next week in detail. Off the top of my head, I am not sure, and as far as carb cycling goes, I personally have never tried it. I know that it does work for some if done right. I may try it in the future..it is something I have considered. Also, Josh and Jay are awesome dudes. They deserve to be up there on the top 6 and are a great inspiration to many, including myself!

I think it's too soon to tell since I just started GB, but I have not lost any strength. So far so good!...but I do miss the taste of GM!!! With the stack I currently have going right now, I'm the strongest I have been in 2 years of consistent training.

Hey bro, lately I haven't had any time to do kickboxing as I used to do it every other day and this was my cardio..It used to go for an hour and was a hell of a workout!!! My kickboxing trainer has since moved onto other things, but I do plan on taking it up again as I enjoyed it very much.

Good stories Nick, love the detail in your log, it's great. The side stories about your training experiences are cool, sounds awesome that your wife is taking an appreciation towards fitness (or at least a more serious one) and the story about the kid is all too true.
I've done it, loads of us have, good that you were there to encourage him. Hopefully that makes him hungrier and not sad.

I tried a whole new leg routine today and it felt great!! I was looking forward to doing legs today as they are a muscle group I am really trying to bring out. Nothing beats the feeling of that burn! There must have been about 10 people in the gym today. I suppose everybody was at the beach as it was an awesome day today in southern California. I went down there earlier today cruisin down the coast in my wifes car..well, I guess it's mine too since we're married now..(I still haven't got used to the married thing yet ..So yeah got it washed and went down to the beach for awhile, enjoyed most of my day off from work and then when 5:00 hit..it was time for training! Changed up the music today and blasted some hardcore underground hip hop. I'm not much of a fan of mainstream music so much...I like the not so known stuff. I started to get a headache towards the end of my routine, but I worked through it. As I was leaving the gym I saw a father and son working out together. I wandered, "Will that be my son and I someday?". It was great to see a father and son working out together. You could tell the father had some experience as he was in great shape for his age. I hope to be that father someday, showing my son how to take care of himself and introducing him to the more positive things in life...Not only does exercising and weight lifting get you in great shape, it shows you discipline, and responsibility..and those were 2 things I never had in my life before I found the iron.
Monday is bi's, tri's, forearms, and abs training.
Have a great rest of the weekend everybody!
Nick

Nick, I know you have way more in you on squats. Now go make me happy!
If you ever need some music, lemme know. I'm a musical geek
Lastly, I'm wishing you the best for you and your future family. Hope you can be that father someday!

Nice workout!
My son is 10 and he's not very athletic. He's the artistic type, doesn't really care for sports but the one thing he really wants to do is go to the gym with me. The gyms won't allow anyone under 10. But your passion becomes their passion. It's hard to have a father that looks that awesome and not want the same thing.

I hope to be that father someday, showing my son how to take care of himself and introducing him to the more positive things in life...Not only does exercising and weight lifting get you in great shape, it shows you discipline, and responsibility..and those were 2 things I never had in my life before I found the iron.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Recently I've seen the same guy come into the gym when I do and he brings his son. The father is out of shape (not obese or anything but obviously had a wake up call or something) and has thought outside of himself and wants to instill a healthy mindset in his son. I like that a lot. I always want to go say something to the guy and say I think he's doing a great job, but what does that mean coming from a 21 year old single guy with no kids? Haha.
I like the log a lot Nick. You go out of your way to answer everyone's questions and that is rare. Your leg workout is finally on my docket for tonight...I hope I can walk out of the gym.

Hey dude, I do them in a roman chair, and I usually eat within 30-45 after training. I drink my 3rd shake of the day right before bed.

I've done it, loads of us have, good that you were there to encourage him. Hopefully that makes him hungrier and not sad.

Being in a relationship with this lifestyle I live is a hard thing..but she understands. She knows its my passion and she respects that. She comes when she can and we she does we have a great time training. She's the most awesome wife!..I got lucky.
Yeah, I hope the kid comes back and decides to hit it again..just more cautious this time.

Thanks Laurie! He's got one more year! You look great for having a 10 year old son, never would have guessed. I plan on introducing my son (assuming I have one..) and or daughter to the world of iron and exercise at an early age. I wished someone would have done the same for me as it would have shown me discipline and responsibility at an earlier age, God knows..I needed it!!! If it is something they learn to love I will be there to support them 100%..if not, and take interest in other things, I will support them with whatever they choose to do. I really am looking forward to having children and will be there for them no matter what.

Hardly ever, I usually do them Tuesday's and Thursday's at the end of my workout for about 15 mins.

You should say something..I am sure the father would love to hear that. A father and son bond is something every one of us should have, but unfortunately some of us don't.
Thanks dude, I try to get back to everyone's questions. Kurt got me all pumped to do legs now!!!!....So try my next leg routine next week and I guarantee you won't be able to walk out!!! Thanks for the push Kurt!!!!!

Hey bro, when I do run..I always keep the intensity high and run at a very high pace. Sometimes I'll do a straight 15-20 minute run..or split it up and do 10 mins on the treadmill and 10 mins on the stair climber. I've bumped the cardio down just a bit lately due to wanting to gain a little more solid mass, however I still keep it in my routine to keep off that extra layer of fat off..I just keep it limited..my metabolism is very high.

That is what I like to hear. No need to thank me though. But if you do want to thank me, you can give m your abs.
Check out my last leg workout for inspiration.
