Going out to dinner...
Just curious what everyone does when going out to dinner and trying to eat? What do you order and how do you survive

assuming you already have some general knowledge of whats good and whats bad in terms of food preparation (ex: fried chicken vs. grilled chicken), just use your best judgement. it's damn near impossible to eat super clean at a major non-health conscious restaurant, just do the best you can, and enjoy a nice meal out.

I get what sounds tasty, whether it's steak, or a burger, or chicken strips and fries.
If it's a once in a while thing, why not enjoy it?

This is the nutrition section and anything someone "enjoys" something food related, it goes against policy.

Yup... Treat the going out to eat as your cheat meal for the week, unless you're going out to eat 5 times a week. Then, basically grilled chicken breast with steamed veggies. Most restaurants have that on the menu.
If you're going to eat Mexican or Italian, just mail it in for the night and splurge b/c you aren't going to find any healthy options (typically).

I eat out every night almost, am bulking, put on .2% bodyfat out of 20 pounds gained... Energy balance is what it's all about.

Get whatever your heart desires. One meal isn't going to make or break you.

From the former fat kid.
I get the healthiest thing I can find.
Lean meat,
No butter veggies
Sweet Potato
Soap
Salad bar if they have spinach and fruit
No dressing, as dressing is loaded with calories and fat.
Burger place I get a lean burger, buffalo or steak burger, eat half on bun other with fork and knife. As for broccoli not fries

I'm a former fat kid too....
I still order whatever I want. There is more to life than 24hr energy balance.

Yeah, there's eating every 2.5 hours and setting a 3 am cottage cheese alarm.

I've been doing this so long I think i live by guilt. If I'm not living by a written meal plan, I use all prior meals to plan the next one. If I know I'm going out to eat, I plan for it ahead of time so it doesn't make the decision process so hard when I get there.

When I do that I pay for it by gaining, so I must stick to strict, endomorph body type, we gain from everything even no carb.
I repay every night with 70-100 pushups and 50 crunches or situps.
No rest for the wicked.
