I squat 3x a week at a bare mimimum, I used a peaking cycle by Pavel Tsatsouline to get my front squat to 120kg from 110kg in a month, utilizing a 6/5/4/3/2/1 rep scheme:

it's a deadlift article but it worked really well for my front squat by doing a week of 3 second pauses, a week of 2 second pauses, a week of 1 second pauses and then max the week after that with no pause.
