Anything wrong with drinking water with oats?
i eat oats 3 times a day and i dont like the taste so i put a spoon full in my mouth then drink some water to swallow it down..someone told me that i wont be getting all the nutrition from the oats and the water will just dilute it..is there any truth to this?

Cant answer your question but you could try mixing it with milk and microwaving it, tastes lots better than mixed with water, but of course it adds lots of extra carbs.

I think there's something bad about not chewing it. Not sure though.
Check your poop and see if there's oatmeal in it.

I would think that not chewing your food would take its tole on your digestive system after a while. Why not eat something else instead if you can't stand the taste? Have you tried eating oats cooked as oatmeal instead? You could also bake them in the oven with a little bit of honey and cinnamon to make it taste more like granola.

You could cook them in the microwave and add some Splenda or something... Tastes pretty good in my opinion.
I also add sugar free syrup, good stuff.

well to me its not about taste..its about the quality of the energy im getting from the food...and if i can put up with it then i dont see why i wouldent do it..i mean its tiny steel cut oats so i dont see why it would be hard to digest..its not like im swallowing a whole eggs

I think you can get your carbs from another source that you enjoy more. It's not like oats are superfood (even though IMO they taste great).

I don't think you are changing any nurtitional properties by doing this, at least I hope not. I blend a cup and a half of oats with water/bananas/whey every morning and its working fine for me. Best of three worlds-insulin spike from naners(to kick me out of a starved catabolic state), whey(also helps get out of catabolic state) and the oats provide sustained energy. You should try blending them in a shake.
I've heard that if you slam a bunch of water you will dilute your stomach acids and they won't be able to digest food as quickly. I wouldn't go over board on the water post eating, just slam a bunch about 20min before if you need. It should have passed through the digestive system by the time you eat.

Well... when the OP said that he sees them in his stool, I would be led to conclude otherwise. Wouldn't you?
The OP should change his sig from "you get what you put in" to "you get what you put in - sometimes"

LOL. Yeah, he needs to blend those suckers up if he can't chew them. I hate eating them damn things cooked. I've heard of tracer corn but not tracer oats. Needs to facilitate mastication, I think blending would be the answer.

I wouldn't. Do we not receive any nutritional value from eating corn?
I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding you or not but putting oats in a bowl with hot water versus putting them in your mouth with cold water is not going to make them any more/less nutritional.

Common sense here - if it's seen whole in your stool as the OP said, then you didn't receive at least a good portion of its nutritional content.

Oh, I wanted to mention, they have ground oats out there. Here are the ones I get at this nutrition store I go to:

Milk in your diet will slow the process of digestion.. for a proper nutritional meal dont include milk have it with water. have you ever heard the phrase drink a pint of milk before you go out on the piss? the reason for that is because you wont get as drunk as you would without the milk.. the same with your porrige oats or your protein drinks. what you need to do is with your porrige oats is poor the oats into a breakfast bowl then poor water in to cover the oats. then put in the microwave for as long as itll take to rise but not too much that its a sticky mess, now put 2 scoops of whey protein in, then stir, if its too sticky theres not enough water so just add some and stir again.this will reduce the amount of excess carbs and fat in the meal to a meal suitable for dieting on. me personaly this is the best meal a bodybuilder could ever have. if you are having finantial problems so you find it hard to find the money for your whey protien what i used to do is add a sweetner instead of the whey.. so you can eat your porrige but, there wont be any protien in there so try to get it from other food sources. hope this helps, James.

U could always just pour water over the oats. Let them soak then eat. Maybe make a shake with water and pour over. Just make sure u get enough water.
Umm...I'll have to try this myself, lol. Getting bored with plain microwaved oats.
