It's all about thinking positive and changing your mindset. When you get into this game, you have to '"re-program" your mind to go through positive sets; always seeing yourself as you want to be.

Every time (usually once a week) when I eat that one cheat meal. Ill look in the mirror and think wow I just put all that weight back on. But after 5-6 days of good solid clean dieting Ill look and be like damn I'm gettin cut. Guess its cause of that stuffed belly feeling. But hopefully ill get to the point where even when I cheat Ill have that 6 back.

I have the problem at times, But I try to think positive and know that I'm way better this way. I definitely get more attention from women but I still feel bad at times and great during others. I was in target today trying on some clothes and noticed they had mirrors opposite each other in the dressing room and light from above, I put on my own muscle show :P felt good that I could see the changes in my body that I usually can't. I can pull off a 36 waist now and almost a medium shirt, coming down from 4x shirts and 52" waist.... I'm 6'4" and roughly 226 lbs..
Btw, at 260 you looked like a mechanic I knew when I towed big rigs, now you look like my buddy Matt. You're looking a lot different and you just gotta tough it out and be positive

doesnt matter. if you keep focusing on your body and let it control the way you feel about yourself and life it doesnt matter if you fat or ripped. itll NEVER be good enough. you probably say that once you reach a certain point youll be happy, but then once you get to that point you feel unfufilled and notice other things and then start the process all over again. its the same as any other thing in life.
having a good body is really not that important. even with girls. if your the coolest guy in the world and have some fat on you youll get alot more girls then a jacked guy whos always stressed out about his body and looking in the mirror and weighing himself 3 times a day.

I can't agree here. I am eating clean and busting my ass working out because I was/am unhappy with my body, which affected my mood and how I felt about myself. I couldn't really pull off the jolly fat man act. I am happier now that I am doing what I can to change my physique for the better. There are much WORSE things to be obsessed with.

It's easier to deal with body issues when you accept that you're always going to be a work in progress. "Success is a journey, not a destination."
Personally, I end up looking at myself in the mirror and having to pull a Happy Gilmore: "It ain't over, Shooter. The way I see it, it's only just begun."

i think you missed his point. its not the looks, its the mood your in, because its visible to others and self image affects your mood. You feel better about yourself, and you give off that vibe, and women find that attractive. Self confidence goes along way. A friend of mine has been losing weight and feels great about himself, and its been showing and hes actually doing better with the ladies, not so much because of improved looks, but the confidence hes getting from his improvements. Hes much more fun to be around.

This always happenes to me. Some days I am happy with myself and think that I am a huge stud and other days I think that I am the biggest puss ever. But there is nothing like getting a pump after a workout, if only I could always look like that.

Wearing the right size clothing makes a big difference in how I feel. I haven't hit my goal weight yet so I still wear some of my fat clothes. When I wear them I feel like crap, but I don't want to go out and replace it all because I'll just be throwing those out in a couple months too.
I do have a couple of pieces that fit right and I feel much better in them.
Now naked in front of a mirror? That just depends on how salty my dinner was the night before.

it's like they say when you lose a limb you still have the sensation of it being there.. fat is much like that if it's all you've known. I still don't like wind pushing against my shirts exposing all the rolls or man boobs under harsh sunlight even though it's not as bad as it was.. heh.. I wear 32 waist pants now for crying out loud. (still do the shirt front pull thing also)

I can relate there are days where I feel so great about what I did when I look in the mirror. There are other days were I still see the 350 pound guy in the mirror. I think my problems are I compare my self to the really ripped guys at the gym. My other problem is I have been stuck at skinny fat for a while thanks to a bum knee that keeps setting me back. I just would love to crack that sub 20% bodyfat. I swear everytime I get close something happens and I slide a little. That and once I get sub 25% my body fights me tooth and nail for ever pound of fat it really sucks big time. That and I have a hell of a time packing on muscle and strength. It really sucks having the worst of both worlds I have to fight to gain muscle like an ect and fight to keep fat off like an endo.

As your body changes it is like those nesting Russian dolls--one inside another, inside another....etc. You keep changing the outside layer but deep in the interior is that small little one that will always remember what is was like to be overweight. I really think that guys who haven't been there have no idea what it is like to have that tape play over and over, no matter what great shape you may be in now. Dysmorphia is impossible to treat at the gym or in the kitchen, it's in your head. You could try smaller goals instead of focusing on the bigger picture--it's easier to see results. Just this week I had an amazing workout, I was strong and focused and pushed through some heavy stuff. The next day I weighed myself for the first time in a couple of weeks and had not lost what I thought I should have. Well, that blew my workout that day....it was all I could think about. It really does get you down and you forget that it is "all good" and you are really doing more than most people.
You look great---don't worry---work out, eat healthy, meditate, live a good life, enjoy things and the total person that is you will shine.
