Speed Bench - 3 Grips

Summer Yolk Series
4 Different lat pull handles. Do a set of 10 followed immediately by a set of 10 Kelso Shrugs (scap retraction). Change handles each set. Once you done all 4 handles add a green band to the stack and do them all again. I think we worked with about 170. This really sucks.

Nice work Dallas. The Summer Yolk Series sounds brutal.

It wasn't too bad, but it's a ton of reps. I'm definitely going to be sore.

I was a bit dissappointed in 635 not moving, but I've pulled heavy a lot lately so I'm not really surprised.

U = strong
Hey Big D, so do you know of any possible programs I can run to up my deadlifts? Not a program like Sheiko or whatever, that is completely centered around the lift and everything else changes.. but more like a certain rep scheme I can follow for a few weeks, while still being able to keep consistent with the rest of my workouts.

I'm not sure if I know of any programs. Basically what I do is try to get stronger through partial movements and good mornings and then test myself by pulling from the floor.

I just read the Metal Manual that Tate put together. Makes me want to go with Metal instead of Titan. Plus, I emailed Anderson about a week ago and have yet to hear back.
You got the Pro Bencher and Pro Squatter, right?
How many guys at BAG use Metal?
I figure if I go with Metal, you might be able to help me out a little more. I know you've never worn a Metal suit, but you still have much more knowledge in general re: equipment.
If it seems like I'm counting on you to make my equipped lifting experiece a good one, it's because I am.

Damn Lencho....By this point in your life I'd have figured you'd already know how to use your own "equipment".

Don't worry. Powerlifting is very Ghey. Won't bother me a bit.
Do not get a Metal bench shirt. The consensus is that they are not very good because they lock up about 2" from your chest and touching is brutal. On the other hand their squat and deadlift suits are very good. I have the Metal Pro Briefs, just ordered a Metal Ace Squatter and a Metal King Pro Deadlifter.
I wear a Rage-X and I reccomend it. I think you would have no problem learning a single-ply Rage-X. You could get it from House of Pain which is in Fate, TX (I think). They are well thought of by BAG.
Here is the equipment I see the most at the gym:
Shirts
- Inzer Rage-X
Squat Suits
- Metal Pro Squatter
- Metal Ace Pro Squatter
- Inzer Leviathon
Deadlift Suits
- Metal Pro Deadlifter
- Inzer Leviathon

Ahh, good to know. I think I'm going to go with the IPF approved stuff because of the single-ply. I will probably do a couple more NASA meets, and single-ply is all they allow.
Is your Rage-X single or double? I just saw on the Inzer site that it comes in both. Also, what size do you think I would need? I won't hold you to this - I just kind of want an idea.

Ahhh...I see. Definitely go with the IPF stuff then. You could use it for USAPL as well.
My Rage-X is 2-ply, but I learned the shirt at first in really loose 2-ply. I started with one guys shirt who weighed about 25 pounds more than me. Then went to another guys who was about my size, but with a stretched shirt. My shirt now is a 50 chest w/ 48 sleeves. It's very tight after my weight gain and I'm scared that I need to go to a 52.
I have heard that you can go tighter with the single ply from the beginning. I haven't seen you since you were about 270, but if you are about 250 now I'd say around a 52 or a 54 in the Rage-X. Likely a 52. House of Pain is very good about helping you find the right fit. Make sure you get a closed back if you want a shirt that is IPF legal.

Something else I just thought of: How much are you tucking your elbows these days? The description of the Metal Bench shirt I was looking at says it's for benchers with less elbow tuck, which is what I consider myself to be.

I tuck more than I did when we trained together, but not a huge amount. I tuck more when I'm in a shirt b/c that helps you touch.
Here is what HOP lists for Rage-X sizing.
The Rage and Rage-X Bench Shirts
For single ply Rage and Rage-X, add 3 to your chest measurement and round up to an even number.
That even number will be the recommended size.
(49+3 = size 52, 52 + 3 = 55 rounded up to size 56)
For the double ply Rage and Rage-X, add 5 to your chest measurement.
Round up to an even number.
That even number will be the recommended size.
(49+5 = size 54, 50 + 5 = 55 then round up to size 56)

Great work, DL. Looks like trying 495 again paid off.
About how far off your chest do you stop with a two board press?

Thanks Matt.
Well, it's 2 2x4s on top of each other. 2x4s are cut when the wood is still wet and so they aren't actually 2" thick when you buy them. So...I'm going to say somewhere around 3" off the chest.
Two board might be a good exercise for you to help your bench.

Does it have to be a board? Could I make do if I were able to set the pins in the power rack at about the same height off my chest?
