Best Whole Food Protein Source For Pre & Post W.O.?

What in your opinions are the best whole food protein sources for pre and post workout? I figured eggs would be a good choice, but I can barely stomach them.

I drink a cup of milk, 2 eggs and a bagel about an hour before my workout.
Thats about 60g carb, 30g protein pre workout.

That brings up another related question then. If you use whole foods pre workout instead of supplement shakes that digest much quicker, how much earlier before your workout should you have your pre workout meal?

I read somewhere that with whole foods you should wait 1 to 2 hrs before your workout.

I wonder if you just had a shake made with eggs(protein) and bananas(carbs) if that would digest quick enough that you could have it with less time before the workout.

That's kind of ironic, I've been doing the same thing for the last week or so...except I add PB2 (powdered PB) to mine

Edit: Great quote in your sig, by the way.

Eggs and fish get my vote.

Eggs are good for the cholesterol and quality protein, and fish is good because of the Omega-3's. In fact, tonight I had tilapia PWO, and eggs for my meal after work

just watch how soon you eat before workout, the digestion and interfere with blood circulation to muscles.

Wink

Egg proteins digest very slowly, so having them right before the gym is a little pointless. Whey (preferably hydrolyzed) is best before and after gym as it is pre-digested and gets into the bloodstream fastest. There is no way around it. it just isn't as optimal to be stubborn and search for some magical whole food source. What do you think is the protein in cottage cheese?
WHEY! and CASEIN!
All protein powder is, is protein that was once part of your cheese so just accept it or live in the past and dont meet your goals, the choice is yours
