Shower Hygiene at the Gym...
I do not know where this belongs so feel free to move it...
I have always had the option of going to the gym, then home to shower in my gym clothes.
Now I plan on lifting BEFORE work...
Shower hygiene with the whole foot thing. I know to wear sandals of sorts, but where do I put the wet stuff in my bag?
Plastic bag and then clean it every night?
I know some bags have a separate mesh compartment and I need a new bag, but I am not gonna get a $65 bag.
I think you know where I am going with this question, I was just curious what others did.
Nick

What is wet? I lay my towel out across the back of my trunk. I have a Malibu, kind of a hatchback style, so my towel dries in the sun. Probably would work in a trunk, too. When I swim, nothing I can do but use a plastic bag.

I gave up on the whole shower shoes thing because of that issue. Mold and smell were a huge issue.

Well, you dry off your shower shoes before you put them away. They will be damp, but then just leave them out of the bag in your car to dry fully. Same thing with the towel.
OP: Does your gym offer towel service?

Then I guess you bring your own towels on vacation too? (And pillow cases and sheets)
Dude, they wash the towels.

No can do. I bike to the gym and work. I tried drying off the shoes every time but I found it took too long and then I had an even wetter towel to deal with. It's just not worth the fuss.

So you walk around in there barefoot? Gross!
Hell, I spray down the equipment in the gym before I use it. I don't need some ass with a Staph infection roaming around getting me sick.

If I freaked out about what's all over the gym I wouldn't have time to work out.

Dude, if you bike, then loop a strap on your bag through your shoes and center them in the middle of your bag on your back, and just ride. by the time you get to work/home they'll be dry. If they're only sandals it's not a big deal. What I always do is bring a 'pocket' towel, like a small handtowel to dry off my shower sandals, then I just hang the towel out of my pocket, so it dries. If it's a rainy day something like this http://www.uline.ca/ProductPopUp.asp...e/HD_241_L.jpg
with a plastic bag over it will seal the smell.
Also for rainy days I use the little disposable Axe body spray and just give a nice little spray into the plastic bag and put it in my gym bag.
No complaints yet.

I use the gym's towel service as well as walk around barefoot. I guess I just have faith that they keep everything clean. I know for a fact they clean the showers every day, and I also know that they bleach the crap out of the towels.

I got a nasty plantar's wart from walking around in the shower/changeroom barefoot. Now I ALWAYS wear sandals. The towels are fine to use at the gym yeah it's just like a spa, massuese anything else where you needa get naked (like the 3am booty call's house)

Wal-mart has flip-flops for $1. Just throw away 1 pair per week.

Wow...
Well - I didn't get the question answered in this post, but I will fill you in a bit more.
I take the train to work and home from work.
No car, no bike involved here.
I NEED to wear flips since I do not need to catch anything.
I will not be pooping in the urinal or complimenting peckers, but thanks for the advice.
There IS towel service and I will be using it.
WET trunks/flip flops are the issue here. Maintaining cleanliness in my bag to and from work/home in my bag.
Please advise further.

Why can't you just keep your wet trunks and flips flops in a separate plastic bag?

Well that's the thing...
Doesn't it grow mold/bacteria relatively quickly??
They would be sitting in my bag from 7:45a to 6pm
That's my main concern is the hygiene behind it - the sandals and such primarily.

tip: try worrying more about what you're doing IN the gym than storing your flip flops
or just buy a new effing pair every so often-they're cheap

You can always take the flip flops out of your bag during your first break at work, wash it, then let it dry somewhere and get a new fresh plastic bag to put your new, clean, dry flip flops in.

I showered in the nasty residence showers last year with these. You just have to dab the underneath of the foot strap, everything else is pretty much rubber and just dries right off. I used them every day and never really dried them off with no problems.
