I use Dymatize Elite whey protein. Its low in fat and carbs and tastes nice. Its not too expensive either.

Men and women don't need to use different kinds of protein. There are so many brands out there, just go to a supplement website and check out the different brands of whey - they should all have the nutritional information posted. Select one that will fit in with you caloric needs.

'Cause somebody has to buy it!
But seriously, don't worry too much about it, just make sure you choose a reputable brand whether you go for whey, casein or soy.

That has always bugs me. I saw a show and they were talking about how soy gets put into so many things b/c its cheap and then they market it to women and health nuts.

Soy contains a chemical that mimics estrogen -- Not something I want or need.
REAL WOMEN USE WHEY
(Please don't go off the handle if you do use soy)

There have been numerous studies done that say that estrogen levels are not increased by soy.

Okay, then why are pregnant women advised to lower if not fully eliminate their soy intake because it is possible that it could harm a male fetus and the development of a normal reproductive system?

I read the University in Alabama did a study...some of the women had 20g of soy protein and the other casein for 3 months. The women on soy lost belly fat while the others experienced gains in belly fat.

There are studies that have been done comparing whey, soy and other proteins. ( I don't have the link at hand)The most pure form, whether soy or whey is the Isolate, as opposed to the Concentrate. The Isolate has the highest percentage of protein. Some people, including many women, prefer not to eat animal foods so they use soy. But I believe it has been proved that whey protein isolate is the form most quickly absorbed and assimilated by the body. In marketing any product there is a lot of hype in advertising, and especially so with soy, but there are pros and cons to using anything. Personally, I have found the soy protein harder to digest, so I use a low carb, Whey protein isolate.
Also, soy isoflavones contain phytoestrogens which are a plantlike form of estrogen which can mimic estrogen effects. I'm certainly not an expert and cannot make any recommendations.
